   Yesterday I was charged (and paid) £1.77 for 406 grammes (i.e. £4.36 per kg!!) of broccoli at this establishment. Of course I should have walked; I was too stunned to think straight. I subsequently contacted the gentleman owner who confirmed the price to me, but said that if I go back he will 'look after' me. This would be like one needing general medical care and soliciting it from Harold Shipman. The latin term "Caveat Emptor" has never been more appropriate.

   Fab little grocers with a large variety of fruit, veg, & more. Couldn't find any weighing scales to measure before buying, but the produce is always so fresh and staff are lovely.

   Called in at Hallgate fruit & veg Jan 25 for a look at their jams. They had a fantastic selection of vegan jams. They are labelled under the shops name but are produced by Bracken Hill at Elvington near York. The label confirms this. £4 a jar for lovely stuff. Also there of course is a vast selection of fruit and veg in the style of a green grocers from many years ago. Well worth a visit.

   One of, if not, the best fruit and veg shops in Hull and surrounding areas. Produce is always fresh, big carrots, parsnips, and potatoes for jacket spuds. Great variety of fruits and they also stock traditional jams, preserves, chutneys and sauces in all sorts of flavours that knock the socks of branded stuff.
