Hargate Hall was our choice of wedding venue after 30 minutes of being there. Once we met the Knox's and saw the beauty of the Hall we were choosing a date to get it booked. We loved the location not far from Buxton and the option to have a DIY wedding. There is multiple self catering apartments in Hargate Hall which are all very well equipped for guests. If you are considering a wedding, I would highly recommend going to have a look at the venue, which also has a marquee. We actually booked and had our wedding in less than 90 days, It was possible due to how easy it was to ask questions of the team at Hargate Hall and also the help they provided with recommending suppliers locally and how other people have planned weddings in the venue. They also have an amazing choice of bunting which is made by themselves! Thank you so much for making our special weekend one of the best of our lives.

Absolutely beautiful inside and out, the rooms are value for money and very well catered for. You won’t be disappointed.

We've just had a weekend here for some friends' birthday celebrations. We're all involved one way or another in the music industry, and this was an ideal location for a serious party. The rooms were clean and tidy, some if not most very spacious and well equipped. It wasn't too cold as other reviews had mentioned, and it was at least -2 for some of the weekend. Loads of parking and lovely grounds too.

The Wedding Venue of our dreams! From the minute we saw Hargate Hall we knew we had found the perfect place for our wedding. What we especially loved was the freedom given by this venue to make our wedding exactly how we wanted, no forced suppliers, caterers, bar, etc. We had the full venue for the entire weekend with around 40 guests staying with us (More can fit in the "mezzanines" which are like little loft spaces in the bedrooms). We think it was really special to have this time to spend with our loved ones rather than just a day which is gone before you know. The marquee was a great space for our dinner and the hall was a great intimate space for the ceremony and band/dancing.... We had 130 guests which made for a bit of a tight squeeze for the ceremony as we had originally planned to have this in the outdoor area, but the weather did not hold up. Nevertheless, the apartments & staircase can be used for people to stand in. We absolutely loved the staircase for our wedding entrance and for some amazing photos. Plenty of room for guests to mingle as we kept the ground floor apartments open and the upstairs area gave more space. We stocked the bar and I think we had enough for another wedding at a fraction of the cost to provide a bar at a hotel or other wedding venues we had viewed in the build up to picking Hargate. My honest summary of picking Hargate is that its not a cheap wedding venue, we spent the same amount in total as we were planning to at a hotel or barn wedding venue, but we got exactly what we wanted and 3x the bang for your buck (Maybe with a little more work as it is a DIY venue!) If you don't appreciate other venues "Flexible" packages with the 2 or 3 different options presented, consider Hargate Hall and put on a unique wedding that you & your guests will never forget. The apartments are all large with a fully equipped kitchen and I don't think we had any issue with any of the apartments. They were clean and tidy & comfortable for all our guests. Anthony, Julie & Family were incredible, super friendly and helpful. Will was so knowledgeable and helpful in the build up to the big day and Sarah & Phoebe put in a hell of a shift on the bar! Thanks to you all and we hope to return for a family get together in the future.

Anthony and Julie have been amazing for us, their brilliant venue suited us down to the ground. We knew it was the perfect place as soon as we saw it on an open day - we held out through lockdowns to make sure we could still go there. Anthony had been guiding us through the process of rebooking and helping us with advice along the way versus lockdown and covid19 restrictions and made us feel so much better every time we phoned up. We hired the whole venue and marquee for our DIY wedding over a weekend, hosting our guests in each apartment, all apartments are different size each with it's charm. The main hall was the hub where we had our wedding ceremony and live music. The thing that attracted us has been that Hargate Hall is family run and super accommodating. Each time we'd phoned to ask if that or this is OK Anthony's been up for it! They have decoration and the all important Bar services to offer too, the Horsebox Cocktail Bar is run by Anthony's son, one of his daughters was helping out with our caterers in the marquee We recommend Hargate Hall for certain. Lots of our guests have been blown away saying how unique it was (as well as the best wedding they've been to.. :s). The opportunity for our guests to make themselves comfy in apartments, go for walks, drop in and out of whats going on at the celebrations is great. We certainly we're glad we managed to enjoy a longer wedding celebration Friday night till Monday morning otherwise it would have gone in a flash!! Go and visit Hargate Hall, have a chat to Anthony and see for yourself We want to do it all again... thankyouthankyouthankyou to the Knox Family for having us at your fantastic venue, we wish you all the best for the future

Anthony is the perfect host, from the warm welcome to the support during our stay. The accommodation is just amazing, it was like sharing someone's home in a well kept country mansion. The room we had was incredible, with beautifully ornate high ceilings, well furnished with exceptionally comfortable beds. The quirky electricity meter was such good value and in fitting with the old world charm of Hargate Hall. The current owners have taken great care to preserve the authenticity of the building and its contents. There are excellent local walks (recommend Millers Dale) and restaurants in the area which are of a very high standard (Merchants Yard Tideswell) All in all -Superb.

Friendly staff. Good size rooms. Decent beds. Plenty of plates, cups, glasses, cutlery etc. Microwave, toaster, electric hob and oven. Kettle, teapot and cafetiere. Fridge with shared freezer downstairs. Lovely grounds with tables to sit out and listen to the many birds. Books, DVDs and dvd player available with TV.

Beautiful house and location. Clean and comfortable. Despite being far from budget accommodation, towels were not provided and nobody responded to my request to hire them at £3 each, so this spoiled our experience somewhat and left a bad impression. The bathroom was also very basic and more youth hostel than medium priced self catering apartment.

Fantastic place to stay while in Peak District. Apartments of generous size, nice and well equipped. Quiet and discreet. Spacious car park. Shower with warm water immediately ☺️. Big windows letting lots of light even on rainy days.
