“I've only ever driven through Cheam before my visit yesterday, a trip by public transport (tram and train) from Croydon specifically to visit the Whitehall museum, housed in a grade II* listed former domestic dwelling dating from before the reign of Henry VIII. While the museum is an important place of reference for local history, geared more towards children than adults, it also houses the excellent Freedom Caffe' tearoom. The restrictions imposed by such an old, historic house may mean they can't use a normal commercial coffee machine but the range of soft drinks is impressive and more importantly, the vegan options for lunch are delicious. I highly recommend both the vegan sausage roll with salad and the vegan Greek. Then there are the cakes... The only vegan option on the day was a chocolate pear and apple cake but it was gorgeous and the staff were attentive and friendly and the food reasonably priced. I also noted the fresh pasta preparation. There's more to Cheam than the museum but whatever else you're doing it's well worth making sure you visit the Freedom Caffe' for a drink and a bite to eat.”

The food was absolutely delicious, and the tiger prawns and Philly cheesesteak sandwich stood out as highlights. “What a wonderful pub. It was fairly quiet when we were there but had a great chat with both the Guvnor and her daughter who have been running this pub for quite some time. The is quite a bit of space to move around in with a bar running parallel to the front of the building. There is outside seating down the side of the pub, but don't forget to say hello to their resident cockatoo as you go out. The Guinness was excellent as was the Courage Best Bitter.”

I was greeted by a very polite and welcoming lady and gentlemen. Food was delicious, price was great for the amount of food . The chicken tikka ( dry ) was the best I have had from a take away . Asked for my naan to be cooked a little extra and this was done to perfection.”
