    “My children have been at the John Roan since 2014, whilst we had difficult times in the past we have seen huge improvements over the last 3 years, behavior has improved greatly, we have a brilliant leadership team in place and a great team of teachers who have improved standards tremendously. My daughter (in year 12) is a high achiever, she had options to go to grammar school or other top secondary schools but she chose to stay at the John Roan to take A'levels we are really pleased with the improvements at the school and have seen positive results in not just the academic side of school but also pastoral care.”

    “I cannot praise this nursery highly enough! It has been a fantastic place for both of my children that provides very high quality early years education. My kids always love going there. The staff communicate really well with the children helping them to feel safe and secure but also encouraging them to be independent, learning how to take care of practical things like putting on coats and doing craft activities as well as interacting well with peers. When I drop my daughter off in the morning I love to see the imaginative range of activities that have been set up each day. The children start each day in their base room and return there for a story at the end of the session but for the rest of the time it is free flow. Children can go outside whatever the weather. On a rainy day, my daughter loves looking for snails or playing in puddles. The school has the ethos that learning should be adapted to children’s interests so it never feels like work. My son loved being outside so staff would find learning activities he could do outdoors. He still cherishes a little notebook he made at nursery to take outdoors and practice his mark making skills by drawing pictures of the imaginary monsters he was searching for with his friends. Abbey Wood Nursery School has very good facilities and equipment including a large playground, grassy areas, a vegetable garden, a forest school area, a mud kitchen, walls for painting and using chalks on, a climbing frame, a workshop area, home corners, moveable gym equipment, tricycles, water play equipment, craft equipment and book corners. The school hatches out chick eggs and keeps caterpillars to watch the metamorphosis into butterflies each year. Story sessions and some of the activities on offer are linked to the topics each class is following allowing children to build their understanding of the world over an extended period of time. I am certain that the rich learning experiences my children have had at this nursery school and the language skills and understanding they have gained will serve them well for years to come.”

My son started attending the nursery since he was two years old, in 2023. Since joining the nursery, he has thrived in a nurturing and engaging environment as a baby. This is foster by the good work of the learning, creativity and social development from the teaching team and management of Partou. The staff at the nursery have shown excellent, exceptional dedication and kindness towards my son. They always embrace him whenever he comes into the nursery, they make him feel safe and happy each day. He enjoys going to school every time. Their approach to early childhood education is very thoughtful and effective. They have help to build confidence in him, teaching and learning basic essential skills. I observe this at home with him. He likes practicing to share his play sessions with me, repeating his nursery rhymes he learnt at nursery. He uses words he learnt from his teacher like 'very good ' whenever he finishes his food eating and anytime he wore his socks by himself. I have seen remarkable growth in my sons communication, independence and enthusiasm for learning as he grows into toddler. I am so thankful to the staff, his key worker and managers of the nursery.     “My little one loves it at this nursery. She asks to go in on the weekends! It's a very family oriented place which is what attracted us to this place. Whenever I have any question or query, it gets dealt with straight away, in a most professional and caring way. The meals are absolutely delightful as nutritional value is on point yet, a wide variation. The activities are fun for the kids, with learning factor. I truly recommend this nursery after gone to visit other nurseries, this is still my first choice. No regrets! Keep up the good work Excel, I do hope you never lose your high standards. SB”
