“Had the carvery. All the vegetables were lovely, perfectly cooked. Roasties would have been nicer with a fluffier type of potato. Roast beef beautiful. Perfect apple crumble with loads of custard. Lovely waitress and lovely manager from the Hesketh which closed down and is still missed.”

“I must have driven past this place a thousand times, and had never considered sitting down to eat, as it looks nothing much from outside, but then I was invited for lunch here. The food was amazing, and the staff warm and welcoming. All in all a really pleasant surprise. I'll be going back for sure!”

“What a bloody amazing pub! The last and final remaining public house I've visited in Poynton and I'm absolutely ashamed of myself that it wasn't the first pub I'd ever visited! I've driven past well over a thousand times in the last ten years after the traffic chaos on the mad mile and I've never popped in. More fool me than you I promise! Now... I've never felt so guilty I've never popped in. If you want airs and graces, go elsewhere. This is a no-nonsense pub with a down to earth owner with plainspoken patrons. The locals here are as welcoming as the owners. Considering it was my debut visit and they hadn't a clue who I was they treated me like family but I was just some randomer who came in with a little Jack Russel! I walked in here with my dog and she was instantly welcomed. No other pub in the village except Cask has ever extended the same virtue, we've always been asked to leave or sit outside! I'm really sorry not to remember the landlady's name but she was so nice to our group. I did promise her a revisit so I hope to update the review in due course. Thanks for having us x”

“Not bad at all much better inside than the outside makes it look . Food is ok , not badly priced . Staff are good . Clean and tidy good atmosphere . About £13 on average for a plate of food and a drink . Pool table available and you can order from the app. Straight to the table . Really good staff who come over and check all is good and say hello and goodbye as you enter and leave . Nice pub . Nice staff well worth a visit”

“I'm biased. I love the Boars Head I've been frequently the place since I was a teenager and now I live in Ireland I still make a point of going in the place when I return to my home town of Stockport. It's a nice traditional pub with a warm and friendly clientele with beers and spirits at very reasonable prices.”

“I always have the Mega Breakfast from here as a Saturday morning treat after the gym, to the point were the staff know my order before I even ask for it. It never fails to disappoint & it sets me up for the day. It's also very reasonably priced & the staff are very friendly & accommodating. Really can't fault the place.”

“Saturday 8th June 2024 Today, I had a good fortune to be in this grand little real ale micropub This pub had some excellent quaint beers on from small breweries. There were good local followers of real ale beers. The staff/owners were really good and knew their real ales. There was also a smashing quiet real ale outdoors drinking area at the rear of the pub. The best real ale pub in Hazel Grove by far”
