“When I first arrived at Northern College I didn’t conform to social norms. My behaviour was wild, and I was living with severe mental illnesses. I struggled to fit into any environment. At Northern, no one gave up on me. They saw the person behind the difficulties and helped me see that I was worth investing in. I've gone from not knowing 5+2 or the alphabet to gaining all distinctions in my Access to HE Diploma, and securing a place at my first choice university. Northern gave me the right support and saw potential in me that I couldn’t see in myself. They gave me the tools, patience, and positive belief. Slowly, I learned how to manage my illnesses, my social skills improved and I believed in my own abilities. This is proof that change is possible when you find the right place and the right people.
