“I ordered decking joists and boards on line as Travis Perkins were offering a very competitive price. The following morning I received a telephone call confirming the order and the delivery time. When the materials were delivered, the driver was exceptional. He was polite and courteous and even took all the materials round to the garden for me. Every interaction I have had with the company has been absolutely wonderful and cannot recommend the Barnsley team highly enough. I will now never shop anywhere else for building materials.”

“Phoned as I needed a ball joint for my car... Admittedly I had called two other suppliers that did not have stock... Spoke to Ellie who was very efficient and friendly and gave me price options on different brands... Kept them on reserve for me to collect later that day. Upon arriving at the store the lad on the counter was serving a gent who ordered parts but made a mistake with his order and changed his mind again which took a while to sort... Said lad on counter was very patient with the customer although a queue had formed... Upon seeing this one of the guys from the office dropped what he was doing and came out to help... Again very friendly and efficient... Had the parts in stock and was cheaper... Great service... Staff should be commended.”

“What an improvement to the old site. I thought it was a shame when the old buildings, including the library were demolished (although this has now been relocated), but after what seems like a lifetime of mess and traffic chaos the new building is light, modern and an asset to the town. Comparable to any other it's one of the best I've seen and is now fully open and operational to sixth form students.”

“My dentist referred me here to have a wisdom tooth removal. The process took from March to now, but through no fault of MyDentist, they fitted me in as soon as I rang and I managed to get a cancellation appointment, which I wasn’t expecting. The team who dealt with my extraction were brilliant from start to finish, they explained everything and were really reassuring. The extraction wasn’t the easiest and it wasn’t 100% straight forward. I don’t suffer with anxiety around dental work but I imagine if you did, the staff would be really calming. I got there early and was seen 25 minutes before my appointment time. The aftercare was explained to me much better than previous work elsewhere. I understand we all have different experiences looking at some of the reviews on here, but I honestly can’t fault them for the service I’ve received. I’m also grateful the tooth is gone!”

“On the 29th of July 2025, while I was at work, my right eye suddenly closed. I went to A&E the same night and was told it was a chalazion. I asked whether there might be a problem with the nerve, and I was reassured there wasn’t. However, it later turned out not to be a chalazion, but Horner’s Syndrome, which is caused by damage to the sympathetic nervous system pathway. In my case, the cause was idiopathic, but in other circumstances it could have been something serious — such as a carotid artery dissection, which can lead to a stroke. That night, I could have been at real risk, and it makes me realise how easily a human mistake could cost a life. I understand that everyone in the NHS works under great pressure, and I truly appreciate the effort of those who tried to help me that night. I especially want to thank the GP in A&E who referred me to the specialists when I went back for the third time — I don’t know his name, but I am very grateful. I would also like to thank the ophthalmology department, who provided a high standard of care. I saw Dr Anne-Marie Firan, who was a knowledgeable and caring specialist. Thank you to all of you at Barnsley Hospital.”

All the staff are friendly and helpful, the campuses are spacious and modern and the amount of support offered is phenomenal, 10/10 would do it all again!”

“Lovely, independent tea room and village store. I have walked past it before on my walk from Cannon Hall, had no idea the garden gies on forever. Friendly, helpful staff, great selection on the menu. Had a toasted fruit teacake and the cafetiere coffee was very tasty and had not had that brand before. Lovely garden area and view, very relaxing. Outside selection of outdoor/indoor plants for sale, a vine that loves it's home! At the bottom of the garden a selection of local and non local fruit & veg, the quality was 1st class and great to see where they come from. 1st class customer service, tea room, village store, garden, food and prices. Would highly recommend.”

At Northern, no one gave up on me. They saw the person behind the difficulties and helped me see that I was worth investing in. I've gone from not knowing 5+2 or the alphabet to gaining all distinctions in my Access to HE Diploma, and securing a place at my first choice university. Northern gave me the right support and saw potential in me that I couldn’t see in myself. They gave me the tools, patience, and positive belief. Slowly, I learned how to manage my illnesses, my social skills improved and I believed in my own abilities. This is proof that change is possible when you find the right place and the right people.
