   A Debriefing on Quinto Lounge: Unorthodox but Acceptable for Light Duties ​Filed by Squadron Leader Bertram 'Buster' Finch, DFC ​Hullo. Squadron Leader Finch reporting for duty. This particular reconnaissance mission took me to a spot in Sutton Coldfield called Quinto Lounge. Frankly, the name suggests a holding pattern more than a dining establishment, but duty called—or rather, my wife suggested a spot for "brunch." ​Upon approach, the structure itself seemed innocuous enough, but the interior is entirely unorthodox. It lacks the essential Spartan efficiency of a proper Officers' Mess. It’s as if someone accidentally mixed up the furniture from a chintzy grandmother’s drawing-room with the surplus equipment from a very loud circus. Too many framed pictures, too many lamps, too many colours. No uniform scheme whatsoever. I could barely find a clean line to focus on. It certainly wouldn't pass muster with the station commander for visual discipline. ​Now, for the Rations. This is where the mission slightly redeemed itself. I sampled the "Lounge Breakfast"—a hearty supply of protein, which is vital before a long-range sortie. The coffee was robust and necessary; certainly stronger than the brew we had in the dispersal hut during the '43 scramble. My companion ordered something called "Tapas," which appears to be small, individual packets of rations served on a platter. Utterly inefficient for volume, but the flavour profile was surprisingly sound. A minor tactical victory for the kitchen staff. ​The Ground Crew, if you like, were surprisingly quick on the re-supply. No unnecessary faffing about. They were young, perhaps lacking the necessary gravitas to bark orders, but they completed their tasks with commendable speed. Roger that. However, the noise level is something else. Far too much civilian chatter. It’s like standing next to a Merlin engine during a run-up. Impossible to hear oneself think, let alone discuss sensitive operational matters. I suggest they look into sound baffling immediately. ​Overall assessment: Not the cleanest airbase, and the camouflage is all wrong for a swift getaway, but the fuel (food) is good and the crew is quick. A satisfactory halt for a refuel, but I wouldn't want to spend the whole war in there. ​Acceptable for Light Duties.

   Good menu range. We went at lunch time on a Wednesday and unfortunately. The food took ages to come and it was cold when it arrived, so had been sat on the side for quite a while before they brought it over to the table.

   Ordered a breakfast with scrambled eggs (the exact way we were told to order it at the last lounge we went to) and even checked with the server that we’d ordered scrambled eggs, not fried. We watched the chef send the server back over to us to correct us and ended up being spoken to like an idiot when we received one scrambled and one fried egg. The “scrambled” egg was just an overdone fried egg, the avodaco was old and browning and the coffees we waited 15 minutes for were burnt and bitter. I have low standards for coffee but this wasn’t even drinkable with syrup in it. Poor staff were clearly understaffed and struggling as customers were wiping their own tables and the one lad kept telling people he was doing his best. It’s obviously not their fault but lounges charging over £40 for 2 meals of such awful quality, when they make more than enough money to have more staff to deliver better standards, should be criminal

   I've been here quite a lot especially over the past couple years, before I even went vegan -- I'm surprised I haven't left a review left, regardless, the staff are all super friendly and the atmosphere is lovely, especially on the occasional candlelit evening they have. I come here if I want to go a place I know is consistently tasty with a long list of vegan options and fast, efficient but kind service. The main thing that draws my partner and I in aside are the fact they are pet friendly (we bring our cats here) and the evening open mics every other Tuesday as these are both things that make us want to keep on returning. I have also been here with a friend who has several allergens (to name the ones I know off my head shellfish, soya, crustaceans, peanuts and mango) and he has had a positive experience with the team when ordering as they were able to work with his allergens and ensure that everything was safe for him to eat -- not only did they do this through verbal confirmation at the bar but they also have an online allergen matrix which is regularly updated with the allergens of every item on the menu which is super helpful for people with allergens in their party to be able to check what they can eat prior to visiting.    Lovely place to have a relaxing brunch. Warmly greeted at the door and given the necessary instructions of where to sit and asked about allergies and dietary requirements which was really nice. Easily found a table, lovely decor, space and very clean. Ordering the food and drinks was really easy via the app we downloaded and was served to our table really quickly. The food was excellent, absolutely delicious. The flavours and presentation were spot on and everything was really well cooked. The menu has a really good vegan and vegetarian range which as I am vegetarian was brilliant to see. The coffee I had was also of a very nice standard. The toilets were up some stairs which I struggled with but I got there, and they were really clean, well decorated with all the expected facilities. All the staff we spoke to were really happy and smiling which made our visit really nice. Would highly recommend this place and we will definitely return again.

   Solely based on the veggie breakfast, the food was ok. The little veggie bites were nice and the hashbrown was lovely and crispy but the button mushrooms lacked flavour, i thought they are normally fried in butter, the spinach or kale was ok with the roasted pepper. I think it was just overpriced for what I had.
