Lovely place. Staff are fantastic and catered to mine and my families needs. All being different ages, they made us all feel welcome and engaged with us as individuals. The Sunday lunch was delicious and will definitely be returning sooner rather that later.

Used to use this pub years back when Phill & Sheila owned and ran it. We decided to stop off and have lunch. I was told by the barmaid in a rather curt manner, that they had now stopped serving food & the kitchen is now closed. So, had to settle for 2 ham cobs. We then sat in the garden & I had a chance to look at the bill, & was blown away at the price for 2 ham cobs, a mind blowing 7.90!! Not sure who makes the cobs up, but you can tell they're done at speed. The butter is just a dollop on each side of the cob, not spread at all. I don't think it is too much to ask at 3.95 each? After all, you are serving food. I'd expect that level of presentation at sweaty Betty's road side café. Ham was like boot leather, too; and warm. Not a great experience, but will not be visiting again at those prices for food that is barely, edible. Food that is wrapped in cling film for heaven knows how long. Great location, but our server, the quality & standard of food, together with the mortgage required to purchase 2 warm ham cobs, not in a rush to go back.

Lovely country pub, been coming here for years, great when the suns out and even better in the winter with the fire crackling away. Great cask beers and always a crunchy cob to be had.

Disappointing Experience – In Need of a Serious Refresh Unfortunately, our visit left a lot to be desired. The place clearly needs a refurb – the carpets and chairs are noticeably old and worn, and we were seated near the smelly toilets which didn’t make for the most appetising start. The drinks tray was sticky, tables weren’t properly cleaned, dusty table legs and to top it off, the Christmas decorations were still up, adding to the tired and neglected feel. The servers station at the entrance looked tatty and cluttered, which didn’t make a great first impression. Staffing seemed to be an issue – either understaffed or just poorly managed. While our server was friendly, they weren’t very attentive. They were using a central table as place for all the dirty glasses. We were given our bill on a small plate taken from that dirty plate/glasses table. The wine glasses were mismatched and had dirty rims, giving the impression they’d been sitting on a dirty shelf. We had the beef roast dinner and the lamb shank. The beef was tasteless and overcooked. Lamb was nice. The roast potatoes were a highlight – tasty and crispy. But sadly, that was one of the few redeeming features. Not somewhere I’d rush back to without some major improvements.

Found this gem just 20 minutes away from home. Fabulous independent pub with a Micro Brewery. Food was very tasty and portions generous ( we didnt have room left for dessert), well presented and brought to the table piping hot with a smile from the young lady serving us. Will definitely be returning there ( need to try the desserts).

Visited as part of a large family Christmas meal on Saturday night and a little suprised to see the restaurant empty other than another large birthday group. To be fair this may have been due to England game. In general we had a great night and the staff, especially our waiter were friendly and helpful. The only downside but a key area was some of the meals were of a poor standard.6 of the party had ordered the Balti which when served was in a small bowl and at best a size i would consider as a childs portion. When we raised this the wsiter consulted the kitchen and advised us that the small portions were due to the chef trying to eke outwhat he had left and they had also run out of poppadoms. Surely it would have been better to have advised of shortfall up front so we could have selected another choice. Was only charged half price but that is not the point. My wife had ordered Hunters chicken and the bacon wrapped round had been cooked to the point it was so hard it was inedible. So food was mixed some ok others poor. Shame because we had a great social night and didn't let food spoil it but on a personal level the pub is one we hadn't visited for a number of years but was on our radar to try out for lunchtime or evening meals in the near future. This food experience has put a doubt to that which is a shame because the pub itself and staff was very welcoming

We went for a family meal so there were 9 of us in the restaurant. There wasn't a table service as they were short staffed so we ordered at the bar, not a problem. The food was very good and we were all served together instead of waiting for meals as you can do in large groups. I have only given 3 stars as any of the staff we did come into contact with didn't appear to want to be there. One chap behind the bar said that he didn't need a pad to remember 9 starters and main meals, then when we got half way through the order he stopped us to go and get a pen and pad. I don't understand his attitude! Well done kitchen staff, shame about the front of house.

Went for lunch on a Saturday. Fab home cooked to order simple locally sourced food. Two small cosy bar rooms & a larger restaurant. Open fire welcoming. Service with a smile. Plenty of parking & pleasant outdoor space. Countryside setting. What's not to like?!

Lovely place to find on our journey which took dogs (in the door on the left area) and had a good menu for kids as well. Welcoming staff and locals. Wish I had visited in the evening, then could have had a pint as the range looked wonderful
