Wednesday night live music bingo. Strayed across the pub on a business trip. Never seen live music bingo before, the band/musicians had quite a repertoire.

Very reasonable prices. Nice quaint little place. There are several rooms, making it feel poky and crammed. Did not like squeezing past people sat outside toilets each time I went. The bar is tiny, unsure how the staff cope. However, friendly, clean and good value for money.
I don't normally leave negative reviews but unfortunately can't really say anything positive about our visit. Keeping it short we ordered 2 "luxury" hot chocolates both were flat cold when I told the woman behind the bar it was just all a hassle for her and she made that clear with a bad attitude and brought us out the hot chocolate in the picture that's just a normal hot chocolate after explaining we ordered luxury hot chocolate all she said was we have no cream and we had to ask for a refund in the price difference but everything seemed to be a inconvenience for her . We won't be returning anytime soon plenty of more welcoming places in Pontefract to visit. Yes the owner did respond on Facebook privately but I do believe others need to be aware of the bad service in places as well as the good service so that's the reason for my google review .
Great little pub, was the 1st time we had been in and will definitely go back.
Pontefract for its size is a great place for a good night out. The Mad Ox is small but it has a good beer garden. Drinks are good, nothing too run of the mill. Worth a visit but very busy at weekends and race days. Shout out to the whole of Ropergate
Great bar. Unfortunately owner treats it like his own drinking den and is always drunk. I went tonight and he insisted on showing me his guns which were not very impressive. Such a shame. Stay away owner stay sober
The bar is ok and the concept is great. I have been here a few times now but there are still a few things that could be better. It does take a while to get served and the bar area is inconvenient as people are trying to que, whilst making way for other customers to go the the toilet, go outside to the small beer garden or climb the stairs. I also think its a little pricey compared to some of the other bars in this small area of town. I am glad this bar has landed though, and I am sure the issues are due to the novilty of this being a new establishment. The place is modern and feels comfortable, when you can get sat down. Keep up the good work and consider some of the constructive comments. We are loving this new part of town, and the effort that is being made to make Pontefract a desirable and safe place to enjoy.
Cafe bar Firstly I drink coffee here, they have an amazing array of flavour syrups to go with the coffees The coffee itself is well done My partner obviously partakes in the bar side of the drinks and enjoys the poretti I have aslo heard other patrons remarking on the mad ox brew
