“Mama Mia’s in Pontefract is hands down one of the best restaurants around. From the moment you arrive you are greeted with such warm and attentive service that makes you feel right at home. The food is always outstanding and super fresh, every dish tastes like it has been made with real care and quality ingredients. Even when visiting on a weekday the place is buzzing with atmosphere, which speaks volumes about just how loved it is in the community. It is no wonder that Mama Mia’s has been open for over 30 years, the consistency and dedication really shine through every single time. I really like that there is a lovely little area at the front where you can sit down, enjoy a drink or just relax while your table is being prepared, it makes the whole dining experience feel even more special. The décor inside is beautiful and instantly transports you to Italy, giving you that authentic feel that pairs perfectly with the food. I have been many times over the years and I can honestly say it never disappoints. The atmosphere, the staff, the food and the overall experience are always spot on. If you are looking for somewhere to enjoy a fantastic meal in Pontefract, Mama Mia’s should absolutely be at the top of your list.”

“What a fantastic restaurant! We were a table of 17 and despite the numbers all the food was brought out efficiently and correctly. The food was delicious, and the staff ere lovely. The menu is very clear to understand for people with dietary requirements and allergies too. Will 100% be coming back!”

“We ordered a variety of dishes and sundries for 6 people on Saturday. We collected and all were still hot when we got home, all very tasty, looked good in the trays. I understand there has been a change of ownership but the food was as good as before and the staff equally friendly”

“Went here to celebrate 25 yrs since our first date and we were looked after by all the staff who couldn't have done any more for us if they tried. When we arrived there was a card and bottle of prosecco on our table from the staff which was a lovely gesture. Food was spot on on arrival you got tea and biscuits then a 3 course meal to have as and when you wanted it then afternoon tea was served. All other staff that took us and looked after us in the parade and winners enclosures were so friendly and made you feel special. If you want to have a great day at the races with wonderful staff I highly recommend Pontefract Racecourse.”

“Technical issues with the card machines. Cash only. No signs stating "cash only" at the entrance. This would possibly have improved the atmosphere. And lowered staff's frustration and improved customer experience. The meal was lovely though. No issues with the food. TrevH.”

It gets busy at dinner and tea time, but only because it’s the best chippy around here! Avoid peak times if you want to walk in and grab your food but everyone has to try this place!”

“It’s a cute little cafe, I came in for a quick drink and would come again. The menu is simple which is not necessarily a bad thing, plus there are cakes available which look lovely. They even gave me a party ring biscuit with my mocha which is just fab. Service was also decent too!”

Many of our guests even went out of their way to tell us how wonderful the staff were on the day. As a same-sex couple, one of the biggest reasons we chose Wentbridge was because we were treated with complete warmth and equality from the very start. We always felt valued, respected, and celebrated, never “different”, and that meant the world to us. The food was another major highlight. There were plenty of options and the team were so flexible in tailoring everything to what we wanted. We chose afternoon tea for our wedding breakfast, and it went down brilliantly with our guests, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. A real luxury touch! Wentbridge is a perfect all rounder wedding venue. With family travelling from all over, having plenty of rooms on-site was ideal, and the variety of spaces throughout the hotel created a natural, enjoyable flow to the day. We were able to make the most of both the indoor and outdoor areas, giving us the best of both worlds. A special thank you to Chloe, Ellie, and Karen, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and their support made the whole experience feel seamless. Our wedding day was everything we hoped for and more, and Wentbridge House played a huge part in that.
