“We got married at Wentbridge in August, and we honestly couldn’t recommend this venue highly enough. From the moment we arrived, we were struck not only by the beauty of the country house itself, with its charming character and stunning gardens, but also by the exceptional service delivered by every member of the team. The staff truly provide a 5-star experience. They were professional, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating throughout the entire process. Many of our guests even went out of their way to tell us how wonderful the staff were on the day. As a same-sex couple, one of the biggest reasons we chose Wentbridge was because we were treated with complete warmth and equality from the very start. We always felt valued, respected, and celebrated, never “different”, and that meant the world to us. The food was another major highlight. There were plenty of options and the team were so flexible in tailoring everything to what we wanted. We chose afternoon tea for our wedding breakfast, and it went down brilliantly with our guests, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. A real luxury touch! Wentbridge is a perfect all rounder wedding venue. With family travelling from all over, having plenty of rooms on-site was ideal, and the variety of spaces throughout the hotel created a natural, enjoyable flow to the day. We were able to make the most of both the indoor and outdoor areas, giving us the best of both worlds. A special thank you to Chloe, Ellie, and Karen, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and their support made the whole experience feel seamless. Our wedding day was everything we hoped for and more, and Wentbridge House played a huge part in that. We’re so grateful and would wholeheartedly recommend this venue to any couple looking for a truly exceptional place to celebrate their big day.”

“Always been a fan of the Turkish/Greek sort of grills and what a little gem this place is in the middle of, out of all places, Pontefract (no offense to anyone from Pontefract). It's a pretty cosy establishment, about 26 covers max, but any place of that size and a focused menu set, typically means they can focus on the quality of the dishes, and boy, tonight's meal was a joy. For anyone going for the first time, I'd definitely recommend the mixed grill as it has a full range of lamb kebab, lamb chop, adana (which btw was awesome, right lamb mince consistency with the delicate balance of herbs and spices), chicken kebab and chicken wing. Rice was flavourful and the salad refreshing with the appropriate amount of dressing. Other half has the chicken Marmanis, which was indeed tasty, white wine sauce with the mushrooms just right without being too salty or sharp. Only a slight blip was a tough tendon in her piece of chicken - something that can be easily corrected I'm sure. Baklava for dessert is home made rather than shop bought so that's a massive positive for me. All washed down with a Turkish apple tea to cleanse the pallette to end a surprising but delightful evening meal. Service was excellent and attentive, the team there are super friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back and is an establishment we will bring friends and family to. A must visit. 5*. If the team are reading this? teşekkür ederim”

“An unexpected stop for breakfast this morning turned out to be a lovely little find! The décor inside is really nice, and the staff gave us such a warm welcome. We sat upstairs and ordered a full English breakfast and a full vegetarian breakfast — both were freshly cooked and delicious. Service was quick and friendly, and we didn’t have to wait long at all. Both meals were delicious. Drinks were well priced and the staff were first class. Friendly, helpful and efficient. “We had the pleasure of dining at Blue Smoke recently, and we’ll definitely be back soon. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Tommy, a friendly young man who showed us to our table. After a brief moment, he offered us drinks and then service was taken over by Lucas. We ordered a selection of pizzas and a chicken parmo, and we were blown away by the quality of the food. The ham and pineapple pizza was hands down one of the best I’ve had in a long time—huge credit to the chef for that! Throughout the evening, we were mainly served by Lucas and Ryan, who were both incredibly polite, friendly, and attentive. It was clear they went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful experience. We also had our one-year-old with us, and the waiting staff were so kind, making an effort to chat with him and acknowledge his little waves. It’s always nice when the team takes the time to engage with little ones! The atmosphere at Blue Smoke was perfect—not too busy, which made for a relaxing dining experience. The pricing was very reasonable for the quality of food, and overall, it was an excellent value. We highly recommend Blue Smoke to anyone looking for delicious food and top-notch service.
