   Came here today as I've got friends up from London stuff away. Maisie and Josh so friendly. Helpful! We have the Christmas dinner. So lovely heart then the manager Mike. So friendly. Helpful. Definitely should give them a pay rise

   The service was exceptional here, and that is getting harder and harder to find these days. Every member of staff we interacted with was so lovely, attentive, and took their time with you. The food was insane and really reasonably priced. We had the lamb that was crispy on the outside but succulent on the inside, the jus was stunning, rich, with a good portion. As we told the staff, best dauphinoise potatoes we’ve ever had. Such care was taken into presentation and flavour. That was one of the first child free Saturdays we’ve had all year, so it was a real treat for us and we left not feeling like we’ve wasted a date. Might be our new date night spot!

   The Fountain has opened under 'new custodians'. The interior hasn't changed - just refreshed. The reservation was made to meet with family and friends to celebrate Christmas. The food is traditional British food with 'thoughtful updates'. The prawn cocktail was tasty, but didn't need the green oil. The beef was delicious and the Yorkshire pudding the nicest I have tasted for a long while. However, the vegetables and roast potatoes were cooked in a flavour not to my taste. The creme brulee was delicious. After ninety minutes we were asked to leave even though we hadn't finished. If you are going to request the table after a certain time this needs to be clearly made to all customers on arrival. The serving staff need to be trained to serve quickly and efficiently. We were waiting a long while for food and drinks by staff who appeared to be still learning. Mistakes were made and they appeared very disorganised during a very busy service. Time will tell.

   I almost wish these guys won't make it to the Michelin Star. I am being selfish here but the food is fantastic and served with such care that I am worried that we'll lose a true gem to different crowds. The place is unassuming, no visual sensations, no shouting, just pure calm and perfect food on white plates. If you are a foody, this is the place. Simple, honest and dedicated work behind each chip, sauce and spoon of soup. You'll fall in love.

   Food was very tasty.., but the dining area felt a bit cramped.., in a narrow 'corridor like' space, with tables along either side, close together. We had to stand and wait to be seated on arrival, as 'the host' spent time organising the table layout on 'the computer' device.

   Absolutely wonderful food, in fact amazing. Would recommend booking to guarantee a place. Lunchtime they do a fixed price menu with loads of choice and comes out piping hot and could not fault anything. You will not be disappointed so well worth a visit.
