Really nice pub would return if i lived in the area. Visited for a beer and some food with wife and infant daughter, large carpark, is located at the top of the hill, staff and the locals were very welcoming. Nice selection of ales lagers and spirits. Restaurant section looked to be closed, but the lounge was bright and modern finish. Pub menu was served as per the website but they had a nice choice of specials. Had the special starter peri peri chicken samosa with pickled molis, perfect balance of curried samosa, sharp pickled mooli and spicey peri, came with an interesting almost experimental bread and charcoal garlic butter, mmm yummy main was a wholesome hearty gaint yorkshire brimmed with onion gravey and sausages dressed with a herby oil and fries on the side, was perfectly portioned for a big fella like me, may be too much for some, but a brilliant meal. Finished off with a white chocolate raspberry blondie, with a tart raspberry coolis and custard. Wife had the burger was thick and tasty, nicely seasoned. Daughter had a big portion of fish fingers and chips. Table services was efficient and friendly. Locals were nice to talk to aswell. We all left happy and full, would recommend.

First time visit, superb Sunday lunch for mum's birthday. Amazing pea and ham soup followed tender sirloin of beef.

Went for a birthday meal; the food was delicious ( and filling ... didn't have room for dessert, unfortunately ). It was also the night of the England match and after we'd eaten in the restaurant, a table was set up for us so that we could watch the match in the bar ... that didn’t end well, but not their fault! Would definitely visit again.

We picked this pub at random as we needed somewhere to eat as we journied across the penines. We were delighted. The staff were very friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. Mid afternoon on a rainy November day the bar was very quiet, so we're not able to give much of a view of the atmosphere.

An excellent village pub at the heart of the community, not only serving the normal bar food but also excellent gourmet food as well. Steak night is a must or the fish and chips are the best in Huddersfield!
