We were disappointed to find that customer service seems to disappear here on Sundays. This is unfortunate, as we are regular visitors and usually enjoy the pub on other days of the week. The contrast is noticeable - staff during the week are welcoming and friendly, but Sundays feel very different. After asking if we could have a drink before ordering food, we were ignored, even as a waitress placed a reserved sign on our table for a booking less than an hour away. With no further acknowledgment, we ended up ordering at the bar ourselves. Thankfully the food was served quite quickly. We chose the sharing platter, which was fine overall, though the roast potatoes were particularly disappointing. Normally, we would have shared this feedback with staff, but no one checked in on us at any point - not when collecting plates, nor when we paid. A simple βHow was everything?β would have made a difference. This isnβt the first time weβve experienced poor service on a Sunday, but this visit stood out as especially lacking. Itβs a shame, as the reputation built by the rest of the team risks being undermined by the Sunday service. Were we not familiar with how good the pub can be on other days, we likely wouldnβt return. We will continue to visit during the week, but sadly, Sundays have left us with a sour impression.

Excellent food and value for money. Was surprised how little the bill was with the quality of the food. Brilliant service too by the staff. Will definitely be back.

Christmas meal with my team. The Hornsmill staff were friendly & attentive. The food was cooked beautifully, presented well and tasted delicious. From my initial booking to our meal today has been effortless. We felt relaxed and able to take our time, we really enjoyed our afternoon. Thankyou.

Passed through for a bite to eat and a drink, was greeted by a female host eventually who was some what rude and not very welcoming. The pub itself was lovely, clean and tasteful decorated, very nice atmosphere. Food came promptly, was hot, cooked as it should and pleasantly surprised after the welcome we got. The male host that served us was awesome, friendly, smiling and made you feel welcome, we actually gave a tip at the end due to his great service. Would have gave 5 stars if we would have had a better welcome.

Excellent experience to dine here these two nights I stayed in Chester. The first night, I ordered steak, medium rare, the meat was really well prepared. The taste, the seasoning was super tasty. Tonight, my husband and I ordered lamb chops, it was AMAZING!!!! The sauce was so tasty. Itβs definitely worth coming again.

A great place for all of the family. Friendly staff with good food served and a wide variety of choices from the menu. A couple of vegetarian and vegan options. We recently had the Eaton Mess which was just cream with one raspberry which was disappointing but usually this is a very nice pub to drink or eat in.

Pub has plenty of parking. Entrance to the pub, seating area in bar and tables clean & tidy. Greeted at the door by staff member who said to find a seat & he would get someone to come over with a menu and take my order. He forgot to tell someone. Other people coming in much later were served straight away with drinks and menu. Managed to get a servers attention to place an order. By the time the server came over I had already made a decision on what I was going to ask for as I didnt want to wait again for them to come back for my order. No apology for having to wait but server said she wasn't told about me. Ordered Panna cotta and tea. Came in reasonable time. Decent cup of tea and panna cotta made perfectly with crisp caramel topping plus two tasty biscuits. Felt invisible to staff. Ordered another cup of tea. Waited ages again to get someone's attention and order the bill. Charged Β£6.20 for 2 teas which I feel is overpriced, had I been given a menu/price list when I sat down I would not have ordered the second tea. Disappointed with visit overall.

First time vising here, very easy to find, plenty of parking. We weren't kept waiting around, we got seated straight away, drinks were kept topped up and the food was amazing. We will definitely be back again and will no doubt bring the dogs with us too
