Have driven past many times and always thought we must pop in sometime. Called in for lunch today with my daughter. Lovely friendly welcome, great service and the food (steak ciabatta) was excellent. Coffees also lovely with I suspect was a homemade small cookie. The decor is so nice and has a chilled vibe with different seating areas. We will put this on our list of great places to eat and will be back soon. So good I also bought one of their gift vouchers as a Christmas present.

I debated whether to post this before speaking to a manager, but things were so bad I wouldn’t waste my breath. I’ve been coming here for over 15 years and have never had such a ridiculous experience! Props to the waitress who seated us and placed our order quickly but it all went downhill after we were served our tapas and she left. 2 hours later and despite being the only people there, we had to fight to get some attention. I called the bar staff when it became apparent that despite looking over multiple times, we were not going to get anywhere. I then called said bartender only for him to walk away into the kitchen. When he came to clear the table he didn’t ask how the food was and it took him ages to ask if we wanted dessert. I told him we would have ordered had we not been sat waiting for over an hour to which he had nothing to say and walked off again. It took a further 10-15 minutes for us to get the bill which was thrown on the table. Another 10 minutes before we were asked cash or card. Another wait to pay. I’ve never seen such shocking service in all my life! Do not recommend unless you’d like to die of thirst/starvation between courses! Beyond disappointed.

Awful experience. The one star is for the waitress who promptly seated us when we arrived. Just left after meeting up with some friends for lunch, we decided to give this place a go because we always liked it when it was Ellie's. After receiving our food, we were completely ignored by the male server who was on duty. We were planning on getting dessert but after being kept waiting an hour and a half (despite being the only people in the building) we decided against it. Server seemed more interested in standing at the bar talking to friends (who possibly worked there too) than in tending to customers. After an hour and a half another couple walked in to get a drink and were also ignored. When we asked the waiter if he could come over he looked at us and walked away. He asked if we were getting dessert and we explained that we would've done if we hadn't had to wait so long so we would just like our bill please. When he returned with the bill the box was slammed onto the table without a word to us and he walked away. We would not have minded a wait if it was busy, but an hour and a half between courses when we were the only customers in there is a joke. Worst service experience I have ever had anywhere and the atmosphere was awful as we were obviously being ignored. As someone who has worked in customer service and management for over 10 years, I would suggest some additional training for staff. Or at least the ones (excluding the woman) who were working today. Appalling to pay for a meal and be treated as an inconvenience. Wouldn't recommend to anyone unless they get new staff and we certainly won't be back.

Lovely little friendly bar and a perfect meeting place with ample parking. I book ahead before I go and I have been many times now with clients and friends. There is a good choice for breakfast on the menu and it is nicely cooked. The homemade cake selection is very tempting and lovely the big pots of tea. The Team are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I will definitely be back again soon :)

Lovely place to eat. Nice choice on the menu. Have had breakfast here on lots of occasions. I had eggs florentine which were delicious and a hot choc which was lovely. My friend had the breakfast burger which looked very tasty. Staff are lovely.

We are big fans of the roast dinners but decided to opt for the Oak afternoon tea which was a real treat. The sandwiches for both the regular and vegetarian options were tasty and the scone, cakes and mini quiches were divine! Service was excellent with a lovely personal touch with the owner coming over to talk to my 8 month old baby and make her smile. Thank you.

We had our staff 'do' here last night and it was fab! The Michael Buble tribute was playing and the bloke knew how to get the crowd going. We had drinks, food and even though the restaurant was heaving everything was done promptly, deliciously and to a high standard. Special mention to Talia who went out of her way several times for our table to accommodate us and was a genuine laugh too whilst remaining professional- customer service was honestly amazing. Really good night, 100% reccomend.

Lovely bar and bistro. Great service. Looked after me, my daughter in law and 3 young granddaughters very well. Amazing hot chocolate. No gluten free options on menu but a great place to have breakfast. Good service. Highly recommended.

Don't be fooled like myself. Hear lies a restaurant that is so far gone that it cannot accept genuine criticism that the food it serves is sub-par; this is not the gourmet experience it seems on the surface to depict and charge for. Unfortunately when ringing up to raise the issue I was instantly transferred to a member of staff who denied they were the owner however their knowledge of the operation and the reply to this review seems to show otherwise. What was displayed next was as much empathetic range as Steven Hawkins' voice box. I was quite flawed to hear the level of blatant ignorance over the course of an needlessly long half hour phone call. Ranging from; what changes would I personally introduce to improve their food as they usually have customers supposedly rammed in during dinner service to try their "amazing" food... well I went at 6.30pm on a Saturday and there wasn't a soul in there... go figure. Then a half excuse that their suppliers being on the expensive side to deliver "quality" products and to top it off being offered a whopping 10% discount because they couldn't possibly offer more" as they would have spend more on the food than what I paid for it" though I was then told they couldn't apply this and I had to argue the toss with JustEat. I was beyond disbelief to what utter drivel I was hearing. I can't disregard that this bistro once had quality food but you won't find that food here at present day. I've attached a recent photo of what to expect with a recent visit to Oak Bar & Bistro. You can make your own informed decision... but you have been warned. My thoughts to the reply... The issue was quite simple. The burger pictured costs near £15; of which we ordered two. If you're that deluded in your operation that you believe this is "cooked to a high standard" you need a serious evaluation. I hope others see this image because I can't quite honestly understand how you can be proud of "that" at £15 a pop. I made that quite clear in my call to then be dismissed and belittled. Thank you for doing me out of the pleasure of revisiting your fine establishment, I shall shed a tear that I can't experience this all over again. What fantastic customer service.
