We Googled "best bacon bap" in York and this cafe came up first. Let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint! We will be making this a regular breakfast spot when in town. The coffee is also amazing! Dark and rich and full of flavour.
Absolutely lovely place. Such a nice atmosphere and I love the decorations! I had the mozzarella and pesto toastie, sandwich and it was delicious.. the banana milkshake was so flavorful. So sweet and delicious! If I come back to York I'll definitely return!
Very substantial avocado on sourdough, lashings of bacon and a cool and tasty pistachio iced latte. A great brunch with excellent service!

What a great little find this cafe was! We were strolling by and ducked in to be very warmly greeted by the 2 girls running the place - just what you’d expect in Yorkshire! A really cool and cosy cafe. We got a great big mug of coffee - which was excellent and smooth. We also ordered 2 toasted sourdough sandwiches - Falafel & hummus and Mozzarella, tomato & pesto and they were both fabulous. They were toasted to perfection - not too crunchy - just right. We’ll definitely pop in again, we didn’t have chance to have one of their delicious looking cakes - a good excuse to return!
Absolutely lovely friendly and cool cafe to work in, relax in from first thing onwards. Great wifi, desk set up, porridge and superb locally roast and perfectly made coffee. And best of all the service and atmosphere they create. Been coming back here time ans again - it’s fantastic value - and long May that continue!
Stopped for the most delicious bacon sandwich a few weeks ago. The bacon was crispy, just how my partner likes and the coffee was really good. The toilets were clean and tidy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!!
This small café seems small and tight, but it is very comfortable. The barista is friendly, the tea is good, and they have free WiFi. In fact there were a couple other people working in there when I arrived and even more when I left.
We came in both mornings we were in York for the bacon bap and hot drink deal (just under £5 if I recall correctly) while walking from our Ibis to the centre. Not an exaggeration when I say they were the most delicious bacon baps I've ever had. My god that sourdough is to die for. Cured our hangovers beautifully on the second morning (context for the ibuprofen in shot). Incredibly friendly and genuine staff. Lovely coffee and mocha. Really wish we could be regulars!
The coffee blend used at cafe 42 is like non over to what I have ever tasted it has a very clean and nice atmosphere cafe with friendly and welcoming staff. This is nothing compared to coffee chains you have been at, the blends and care put into every cup is astounding! The interior, with the menu on the wall written in chalk and the lights and greenary work really well to create such a cosy atmosphere. Definitely will be returning!
