“A fantastic meal tonight! It’s our first time here and it won’t be the last! The food was fresh and delicious and the service was swift. The green mandarin juice was delicious too! We had a little corner of the restaurant which was great! Looking forward to trying the other dishes next time!”

After our earlier, underwhelming coffee and service at “Over The Rainbow,” this place completely turned our morning around. A true five-star café and an easy recommendation.”

“I visited Cafe No 8 before Covid and really loved the food. They shorten their operation hours after Covid and we finally made it for Sunday lunch today. We had a starter, mains and dessert. The food was just as good as I remembered. Service was good too. This place just celebrated their 20 years' anniversary in York which tells you that they got to be good to last that long given the ultra competitive food scene here. The food was of top quality, refined and cooked with care. We had beef and pork tenderloin and they were so tender. The potatoes were roasted perfectly. And we had a selection of vegetables (Broccolini, Parsnip, Carrots, Spring Onions etc) not over cooked like many places. And I was so glad to try the Dark Belgian Chocolate Truffle with Black Sesame Ice Cream. I love black sesame ice cream but is a rarity to find them in York. I wish I could buy a tub of their black sesame ice cream and bring it home. If you are looking for a place with a relaxed atmosphere, serving non-pretentious and delicious food, I recommend Cafe No 8 Bistro.”

“This is a tiny cafe above a bookshop. Both are queer spaces, full of flags, acceptance and super friendly staff. I can highly recommend the bi passionfruit cake. The cafe is a meeting place for young people who identify as LGBTQ+, so if you have an issue with them you're not at all welcome here. This cafe is absolutely perfect for students but, to reiterate, it is very small!”

“Absolutely fantastic little cafe right behind York Minster. It has about 3 tables (for two) inside the cafe but quite a good number of tables outside. We had coffee and cake, which were both excellent! Can totally recommend!”

“Nice to see this place after many years. My uncles bakery used to be where this cafe is, back in the 1970s/1980s. Spend many hours in the apartment above the shop, where they used to live.”

“We had our small post wedding celebration here in The Courtyard. We stayed the night before and the evening of our wedding. The entire staff, from Event management as my first contact, to reception staff and the breakfast greeting was superb. However, a very special mention must go to Yontshi, who made sure we enjoyed our tasting menu the night before and took charge of our reception on the Saturday. She made us feel like we were the most important people in her world. Thank you Mr & Mrs Miles Walker”

“Great wee place near my hotel. Staff were lovely, and the food was so good, especially with a freshly made coffee. I also saw that it's dog friendly, which is fantastic. They had a variety of incredible cakes available too, and I got a fruit scone to take away with me. It was delicious! Definitely recommend it here.”

“What a great little find. We found this place after a brisk stroll in the park and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Friendly service, great atmosphere, yummy coffee and the best bit was that we had to wait 10 minutes for the scones to finish baking! Delicious!”

“A wonderful place to eat and spend a few hours watching the traffic go by. So if you want to eat sandwiches while stood on the A64 trying to avoid getting run over and take in the wonder that is exaust fumes on a major road then this is the perfect place for you”

“Great pub , by the road side so parking is a bit difficult but not impossible beer great and a good selection, well worth a visit, I should know as I did the line cleaning there.”

“Clean, comfortable, peaceful and cheap. Lots of parking and convenient for the university and the local buses to get into the city centre, which run often and have a reasonable price. We arrived late and left early, not having any food and so cannot comment on that.”

“Fantastic customer service in York . Saw my dream boots online only to find that stock was not in store but could be ordered online. Unfortunately the online process didn't allow me to input an address in Australia and it was our last day in York before heading to Scotland for a couple of weeks . Unfortunately I didn't get the customer service lady's name but she was amazing. She located a store that we would be near on our return to England in the way to the airport and arranged for the boots to be collected there. Over and above service. Thank you. I will be reminded of your efforts every time I wear them.”
