Absolutely wonderful! Great atmosphere, lovely service, & amazing food! Very accommodating for a bigger table with a pram even though the cafe was pretty busy. Obviously a few popular spot, plenty of people waiting for tables on a wait list but very quickly seated. Want to see more photos? Always a brilliant coffee when visiting Fables, they always have a good choice of cakes to choose from. You get a good sized portion too!!! Service was great, Lorraine always goes that extra mile with great service every time we visit. Great atmosphere always a pleasure to visit! :)

Ok where do i start. Nice place and the coffee and cake always decent, but the main menu food to be honest appalling. Here's why. Very overpriced and we assumed this from checking the menu beforehand. Was dubious that the food may not match up to the price. We were right. Had a hot pork sandwich, utterly terrible. The quantity and quality was quite frankly appalling. It was an insult to any customer. I cant comment on any other food on the menu but the quantities on the menu look very poor, this was proved right from our meal. The 'slaw' we were given was literally pathetic. Needn't have bothered. The potato crisps were appalling. They were dry and im sure they had been left out for ages and just given to us. Finally the sandwich. Lots of fatty meat, no taste of the apple sauce whatsoever which was supposed to be included and the size was an utter insult. Id go as far to say they were taking advantage of the customer. Disgruntled customer, of course. When you pay good money. You should never leave a restaurant still feeling hungry after paying good money on top of poor quality food. We shall call in for a coffee and cake again but a main meal, not a chance. Management need to take note of these reviews. Check tripadvisor too, they give alot of recent similar reviews.

Quite a surreal experience really after reading all the reviews. Walked in and waited at the 'wait her to be seated' sign for 5 minutes, while an older member of staff was putting stuff away around us, and then served somebody who had just walked up to the till, not even a word to us. Then when she finally did attend us, she was very, 'bish bash bosh' even seemed annoyed we needed a child seat after asking us if we needed on. Had to go up and request service while the same member of staff ( same as before), was chatting away to the locals on another table for 10 minutes. (There were only 4 tables at the time and she had already been to take an order for a table that came in after us). The food sadly was overshadowed by the poor service at the start, but did come out quickly when we did finally order. That said, the 2 younger staff members were really courteous, really friendly and helpful. It is a shame, because by that point we'd already made our minds up. It's very clear to see, had we been a regular we would have been treated differently when we entered and we saw that first hand. I wont give 1 star as the other staff members were lovely and the food was good. First impressions mean a lot in this trade.

Terrible terrible service. We’ve been here a few times and never felt so isolated then this time. The shop was really busy and we waited for a table which we was the next one in the queue. They said it would be 5-10 minutes wait. We waited 30 minutes for a table when one came available, which we were happy to wait and it’s not their fault that no one was leaving earlier, so that wasn’t a problem. The issue came when they obviously prioritise people they know. They let someone else who they knew go in front of us and take the table and completely disregarded the fact we were stood there waiting. Another 10 minutes went by and they said won’t be long sorry for the wait. Another table became available and then they let someone else in the queue go in front. When I confronted them they said you can sit outside! It’s 8 degrees I’m okay thank you. So we left without any food or drink as we got more and more frustrated. Shame as every other time has been fine but I think I wouldn’t want to go again just because of the bitter taste it has left. ill leave them to prioritise the people they know.

This coffeehouse was amazing. All the normal things - service, wait time, etc was as expected. But the decor and food were impeccable! I ordered the ‘Fluffy American Pancakes’ and was blown away. They were easily the best pancakes I have ever had. They came with two sides (I personally chose bacon and maple syrup) and lots of options. 5 stars all round!

Very nice place overall. Food was close to excellent. I'm not sure I would return soon because my budget couldn't stretch too often but it's nice as a one-off. Slight criticism would be too much sauce on the eggs benedict. Staff very friendly also.

Excellent service and the food was amazing. If you haven't been, it's a must. Five of us went and every one of us was thoroughly satisfied.

Good lunch. We enjoyed a feta salad and salmon pasta. Nice flavours. Service was very good. It’s a really nice welcoming place. Good ‘clean’ measures in place. We will do cakes next time. They also have a range of treats, condiments & flour for sale. Busy and popular.
