“I live about a mile from Roots, and drive and walk by regularly. But I never noticed it. Now, I call in quite regular for a cappuccino which is to die for. It is so creamy and tasty. It beats C@%&A and the like any day. I have never tried the food, but what I have seen looks very tasty. The staff are very polite and friendly. The premises is quite large, and there is a decent size room for private functions. The single use toilet is always very clean. There is parking to the front. All in all a great place for a meet up with friends for a catch up and a coffee and a snack. Opening times. Sunday closed. Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm. Saturday 9am to 2pm Closed Bank Holidays. Except school holidays. 9am to 2pm.”
“I really enjoyed my visit to this coffee shop! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to relax or catch up with friends. Everything is very clean and well-kept, and the food and drinks are fresh and absolutely delicious. The staff is friendly and attentive, which makes the whole experience even better. Prices are also very reasonable, so you can enjoy great quality without overspending. Definitely a place worth returning to!”
“What delightful place! Had a decadent hot chocolate made with actual chocolate flakes in hot milk, mini marshmallows and cream. The baked potato was divine, as was my fiancées chicken and brie panini !”
“Always a brilliant coffee when visiting Fables, they always have a good choice of cakes to choose from. You get a good sized portion too!!! Service was great, Lorraine always goes that extra mile with great service every time we visit. Great atmosphere always a pleasure to visit! :)”
“Really nice little spot, we visited a week ago and had a couple of baguettes. The bacon and sausage were cooked perfectly. The coffee was great as was the Yorkshire Tea.”
“We eat here once or twice a month and they never disappoint! Good portion is sized perfectly, the food is delicious and the staff are lovely. The place is kept clean, and service is fast. Would definitely recommend! Be mindful that it’s cash only :)”
“Delightful hidden gem. Parking. Light and airy, with amazing big windows - perfect for watching the world go by. Comfy sofas for relaxing. Fabulous bacon cob. Nice hot chocolate too. Lovely owner. Great value. Love all the pictures with the history of the place and local local area. Looking forward to returning.”
“Amazing service food was outstanding cute little dog and most importantly super kind staff”
“This place is by far the best cafe in Shirebrook. Staff are amazing and the atmosphere in there is fantastic. I struggle with a variety of sensory issues and the owner has made it such a lovely place to come to.”
“Perfect accommodation and location for our stay. Thanks to our hosts for providing those little extras that make a difference to your stay. Just right for us! We will definitely be staying here when we return. Thanks again to you both.”
“Quality food, friendly staff. Couldn't recommend it more. Everything is cooked fresh and very delicious. Highly recommended everyone should try it ❤️”
“This was my first visit here and I would definitely return. Service was impeccable, the team seemed really organised and drinks and even hot food were served very quickly considering how busy it was at the time. You can tell each person has a different role to play and they get the job done quickly and efficiently. It was nice to see different drinks on the menu instead of the normal run of the mill, especially seasonal specials. The atmosphere is fantastic and while it’s quite small, it doesn’t feel cramped. Would absolutely recommend to anyone wanting to try somewhere new for a coffee and cake!!”
“A regularly drop in here, a great little spot for coffee and a bite. Wonderful, consistent flat white.”
“Great prices, great food, great drink, great service. 10/10 establishment and they do the best mochas I have ever had in my life.”
“Excellent customer service! Amazing stuff, very polite. The food is very nice!”
“Amazing two young women serving in store who were friendly & efficient, even though they had just been verbally abused by a rude, ignorant customer using the drive thru. They should not have to tolerate such behaviour from people like this.”
“Was meeting my friend later around 1230, usually I love this store but won’t come in again if the Assistant Manager doesn’t get basic information So the lovely Manager, Mel is sweet and kind and speaks to regulars like family, working in social care, you can see who is genuine cares, and has excellent interpersonal skills, all there but I wonder why I was either too assertive or the Assistant Manager, was too focussed on telling me to not put a large cardboard box full of something on another table!? I was sat in a quiet corner having spent £9.70, on drinks cakes and expressed gratitude about his staff, he had zero awareness as he got on doing cups trays etc. That aside, my dear friend was unable to join me today, she and I are regulars and we always sit quietly in the table opposite the toilets, just to be able to have a bit of down time, be near the loo too is a bonus. The table tables are now across from a cupboard where the Assistant Manager cannot get at and where the two tables now that he needs urgent access to to put paper cups as he tells me about access, so me with osteoporosis that practically spends my pension in loads hot chocolate coffee cakes crisps etc etc is told that he, the Assistant Manager, who might have theoretical knowledge is now allowing his barista the lovely young lads to sit at the same table enjoy her break, and so she should whilst she eats drinks has crisps with all the paper plastic cups that he urgently he would appear to have urgent need to move me for as he leaves them obviously, I can see them plastic see through loads of them , six packs as the barista enjoys licking her fingers on her crisps , has a sprite on iPhone whilst he is prancing about I’m moved with hot chocolate two cakes keys phone plates osteoporosis chad leg need to be near loo! In addition a person mentions that a fire door is propped open with a boulder he says nothing at all as I close the door to support him so the wonderful assistant manager pops out to the underlying who is much better in public relations his junior and tells her about emails from HRvin a public place who then goes through privat entrance I hear lots being touched! Hoping fingers washed no evidence of this Wow, Mel he need to learn about Health and Safety at work Act 1974 and Fire Safety Regulations I told him that a man had noticed and if I was nasty too I would him over that, that I thought maybe it was propped open in good faith So I suggest ask is this area out of bounds to public? Where is the sign saying How come staff can eat there not us He says you can I just need to get there meanwhile same barista person no clean hands in mouth iPhone might be done shift them goes to tables Urgent cupboard still unlocked plastic cups still there My drink cakes just under £10 photo to follow plus call to Health and Safety At Work Act door propped open fire with big stone now closed by me Infection control fingers hands mouth table Lots of smiles from Assistant Manager concussion not keen women disrespectful Not keen Health and Safety Health and Safety Food Hygiene will be Where are you Mel and the twins Maddison the best ever Alex Meanwhile as my food has gone cold down in lumps cakes dry I will be looking for compensation monies as it’s appalling He lets the side down No response apology No problem solver So just disable that area as delivery but it’s ok to turn a customer away and let the staff member eat there in out still urgent cups still there two hours later Urgency is me Star books No Officials ring me Compensate me as the customer is ALWAYS right disgusting Get him out of here On how to be a Manager Meanwhile barista now in loo Hope hands washed Up down in out like a adhd restless teen I bet that door will be wide open fire door propped same boulder as soon as I leave I also said that I understood hot day It’s funny how something you loved and one incapable man posing as assistant manager can behave like that no reply no thank you Kept saying it’s a table I come back in one day from receipt of this review Food hygiene”
“Absolutely incredible service, perfect coffee! Kelvin went above and beyond with his service.”
“Drinks are always perfect and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Love visiting at weekends with my young Son, and for my caffeine fix on my way to work.”
“Great tasting food and drink in lovely surroundings with a choice of seating areas.”
“Lovely coffee and amazing service. In a really excellent location perfect for takeaway, or you can sit in a look at the mining memorabilia.”
“We called in today to support this new venture and although one of the owners is my sister I like to think my review is honest and unbiased, Debra and June have got everything spot on the décor is brilliant and the Coffee and cream scones we had were worth the drive up from Leicester. Well done both of you, with the hard work and thought that you've obviously put into providing a nice experience for customers you deserve to be a success.”
“My daughter and I had afternoon tea here yesterday. It was really nice. The food was fresh. Good selection of items for afternoon tea. Beautiful Teashop and lovely staff. The owner was very nice and accommodating. They also do theme nights, which I'm sure we shall be back to join. The menu was great for other occasions. Breakfasts and lunches, or a drink and a snack. The shop itself was decorated lovely, with indoor and outdoor seating. Dogs were also welcome. Set in lovely surroundings in a park. We will definitely go again.”
“Love, love, love this place, great food, good coffee, buzzing atmosphere, friendly staff in a gorgeous building on a beautiful little park smack bang in the middlr of Mansfield”
“The service is always great here. The staff are always friendly and professional. I also really like that every Capo Lounge has the same vibe through the UK. The ones I have been to in Mansfield, Birmingham and Stratford upon Avon are anyway. I can honestly say we have never had a problem with the service here. We eat and fine dine most weekends, but we still just love going for a good old English Fry Up! The cocktails are lush and YES, I drank one before 12pm ;)”
“Amazing little cafe! The staff is super friendly, the place has a cozy and unique vibe. Most importantly, the coffee is so good! I would recommend their fudge to go with the coffee too, cappuccino fudge was delicious!”
“I had an afternoon tea delivered from my daughter for mother's day, it was very nice. Nice food on the tray. I would recommend this place”
“Great food always. Lovely friendly staff. Been going here for years now. I don't go as much as I spend more time abroad but my kids have most Fridays. Never a bad meal.”
“Best lasagne I've ever not to mention I actually enjoyed the salad to you know what I mean absolutely banging”
