“Absolutely wonderful place to have a coffee date or shop for little trinkets and stationery. Very relaxed atmosphere managed by lovely owners.”
“Had the Brunch Bagel for brunch on Wednesday 10th April, and can honestly say it tasted better than anything I have eaten for a very long time. Fantastic service as always, and a bunch of people just relaxing and having a good laugh...made my day.”
“Had 2 lattes yesterday at this lovely shop. The coffee is excellent and the couple who run it are delightful. The gentleman gave us very useful information about the area”
“The coffee is delicious. The service is fantastic. Highly recommended. I ordered a selection of coffee online during a mad rush for James Hoffman's decaf tasting selection. There was a small error made with my order but this was rectified very quickly. Communication from the team was excellent. Support local business!”
“Lovely wee coffee house in Banchory. Great coffee, and good food! Although, a greater selection of toastie flavours would be welcome. Indoor aesthetic is excellent. Staff seem friendly. Prices are not cheap, but are reasonable. We’ll certainly be back again.”
“Another fantastic visit to Kilau. Great food and love their outdoor seating area.”
“One of the best independent coffee houses in Aberdeen with better opening hours than most. Comfy seats, always lovely service, delicious cakes, perfect brews and cosy atmospehere. Recommended.”
“Room was clean and cosy, bed was comfy and breakfast was delicious! Can’t fault Evelyn and Charlie on their welcoming hospitality.”
“Incredible food and truly lovely staff. My partner, doggies and I felt so welcome, and the food was not just pretty but delicious. My partner said it was the best breakfast burrito he’s ever had — and he’s eaten a lot around the world! Must stop place for vegans and veggies travelling the area.”
“You seriously would struggle to find a better place to relax and drink a hot chocolate after a perfect beach ⛱️ walk than here x”
“Loved this café! The staff were super friendly, the service was great, and the atmosphere was so cozy. They also have a lovely outdoor seating area, which made the experience even better.”
“The Jays Guest House in Aberdeen is in a handy location with a grocery store and a number of very good restaurants within walking distance. And it was very quiet at night. We arrived late but were still able to use one of their parking spots behind the house (there is also free street parking if their parking spots are full). The breakfast was excellent and served by one of the owners. We would definitely recommend that you stay here while in Aberdeen!”
“I stayed one night before catching the ferry to the Northern Isles. The location is amazing, it´s just a few minutes to the bus and train station and not even a 10 minutes walk to the ferry terminal. My room was huge and very comfy with a great view of the garden. Very lovely owner with great tips for the area. There is even a lovely communal kitchen with some things for breakfast.”
“Lovely coffee with a lot of choice in syrups etc, tasty sandwiches and paninis, and most importantly welcoming, helpful staff.”
“Nice food and nice cake.. I would love to repeat! Thank you”
“Great Dog-Friendly (obviously!) cafe on the riverside. We pop in regularly when we're in Ellon, and it's often quite busy, but always has space. Hot food, sweet treats, coffee and other hot drinks, everything is good.”
“Delightful mom and pop community shop. A place that doesn’t put on airs, just serves up tasty food, delicious coffee, and provides excellent customer service. Not only that, but the prices are quite affordable. I absolutely recommend visiting while you are in Aberdeen!”
“Wonderful food and coffee. Staff are cheerful and helpful, lovely people. Thank you for a pleasant dinner.x”
“I did not realise that there was a cafe in this premises. There was plenty of seats and tables to have business chats etc. It was very busy at the time l was there. Being a diabetic there was limited food for me. I wiukd certainly pay another visit for a coffee.”
“Wee gem of a place. I like that's it's a cafe and bar/restaurant combined, the decor fits both styles very well. Really well decorated and a lovely atmosphere. Exceptionally friendly staff! We had a caramel latte with almond milk & a chai with almond milk, plus a slice of carrot cake & a nutella croissant. The cakes were absolutely delicious and a big mug for the drinks which was great! Really well priced as well. Will be back to try their cocktails and dinner menu sometime. Would highly recommend!”
“I enjoyed my meal on Sunday but I found the service bizarre. In retrospect, I wonder if we had done anything wrong. I am not sure when we arrived, but it might have been after three when they have stopped serving. My partner, who I know can be very difficult, asked the chef serving behind the Carvery, if she could have a Vegan meal. He agreed a special price for her, for just vegetables. I was given a special price, for only having a single carvery course. The problem came when we wanted to choose a table. The Sunday Girl initially insisted that we could only have a table in which the cutlery was laid out. We eventually had a table by a window which was much lighter. The extra work involved moving a knife and fork. At this point, my partner decided she did not want anything at all. So she left me on my own, which I was quite happy about. I was feeling hungry and I had wanted to eat at the Porterhouse for a long time. So far, so good. I enjoyed my meal. When I finished I stood by the entrance to pay. The Sunday Girl pointedly ignored me and chatted with her colleagues at the bar. I walked over to the bar to pay. I was presented with a bill for two people by the Sunday Girl. When I protested, the chef reduced this by half. A lot of people find these confrontations surprisingly unpleasant.”
“Came here after a very wet and wild trip to Dunnottar Castle on a yellow weather warning day. Was soaked through and the cafe was very warm and served delicious soup. Was pretty busy so was lucky to get a table”
“It was absolutely delectable I had the continental breakfast and brownie at 2pm! It is definitely a must stop cafe if you’re in Aberdeen!”
“I stopped by for a takeaway coffee on my way to the beach. There was a good distancing one way system, the staff were lovely and helpful and the coffee was decent. I also got 2 home bakes, which were delicious. For 2 slices and a coffee, it came to around £6, which I thought was reasonable. Update: we returned here and the coffee was, again, lovely and great value!”
“Simply exquisite food and service. After multiple experiences at this establishment I must say I am very pleased with the quality of food, drinks and especially the wonderful staff who are very friendly. The facilities are simply spotless and can not fault the effort put in to ensure the highest quality of cleanliness. Will be returning as soon as possible. #happy customer”
