Food is usually not great but was actually inedible today. Half my chicken breast was that hard I couldn't even get my fork through it. The waitresses never asked us how our food was....probably because they knew it was shocking. Only giving it 1 star for food because I cant give 0. Much better places in sowerby to eat

  2. MADDOGLEP ★★★★☆

Madge loved the real ale selection ( up to 12 beers ) in this surprisingly small Spoons, both inside and out. I had a pint of Old Legover, a 4.1% ale from Daleside brewery. First ever visit here. Excellent value.

This is definitely the best Weatherspoons I have ever visited. The staff were very efficient in clearing and cleaning tables down as customers left ( something that lets its Rochdale branch Regal Moon down). Staff were also friendly and polite. The Commercial Inn has a bright airy feel to it and a calm relaxed atmosphere and a lovely view of the church opposite. Our food was nice and hot and well cooked. Excellent value for money too, we had the large breakfast which included a hot drink with free refills, a very pleasurable experience. It will definitely be my go to for breakfast when staying in the area.

Pop in for a drink after ling journey. It was a lovely day. Sit out as there were plenty of seatings. Ordered on app, had drink and move on. Btw staff wasn’t much friendly and showing lil attitude when bring drinks. Anyhow nice area so let me enjoy.

This was my second attempt of ticking off a new spoons. First time I tried it was closed for the day. Easy to find with the train station less than a 10 minute walk away. There's also a small car park across the road and also free roadside parking close by. I had a very good pale ale for £1.99. Quite busy on a Friday afternoon despite the unpredictable weather. Plenty of small spaces if you want privacy.

Love Spoons. ♥️ Great clean environment. Fast, App based or friendly bar service. Free WiFi and unrivalled value. Bacon and egg bap with unlimited fresh coffees or teas for £3.60. Why wouldn't you? Meals for as little as £5 including drinks. This is my local one and one of the smaller ones but you know what you get here. Never s week goes by that I don't pay a visit. Come in Tim give me shares!

Go most Sundays as its local with family to eat. My mother in law loves the chicken bites; Portions are getting smaller and more expensive, and think this week the cook must have taken his/her eye off the fryer as the nuggets could have been used as a weapon in a slingshot. Staff are always friendly(hence 3 stars) , it was very busy so the food took a while. Also the house white wine isn't as good as the Hardy's they sold up until a few weeks ago.

Decided to call in here after a nice drive out over the Pennines on a Sunday, on the way back home to save us cooking when we got back. Easy access for disabled up a ramp, atmosphere was nice andrestaurant warm, staff pleasant. Sadly food was not so good with it poorly cooked and small portions for price approx £10ph and we've been to many Spoons restaurants andnot had this before. My fish, although cooked, was very dry and batter was like cardboard, very chewy, as if it had been left all day under a heat lamp. Chip portions were small and so were the peas. Hubby had to ask for extra mash with his steak pudding cos it was so small, which the pudding also resembled a small shop bought version. We did complain to a male staff member about the portion of mash and peas but didn't go further as felt it wouldn't have made a difference and our day's experience was already ruined by then. 3* only given for accessibility, seating quality and availability and friendly staff. Very poor food and so would not recommend, unless you have no choice. I would try one of the other nearby Spoons or nearby Brewers Fayre or Toby instead.

A worker called Danny went ABOVE AND BEYOND service. The nicest person I've ever met in hospitality he deserves a raise!! The best service I've ever had in a pub. Karl is okay.
