Stopped off on a walk to warm up with a coffee on a Sunday afternoon and was tempted by the Christmas Lunch menu. All staff members were welcoming, helpful, happy and smiling creating a lovely Christmas vibe in the pub. The turkey roast was plentiful and tasty. I would heartily recommend The White Lion and will return agin in the new year.
Four of us had lunch here at the weekend the main meals were very good we all enjoyed them and cleared the plates, the puddings we felt were on the small side two of us had the warm chocolate Fondant with custard when they came they were circular and probably would of sat on a table spoon after having a pudding you should be full i could have eaten the fondant again, highly recommend the pub and mains would go again.
Been twice for a meal now. Food was fantastic both times, hot, well presented, tasty. Had plenty of options for veggie too. Staff were lovely, chatty and welcoming. Will definitely be back
Popped in for lunch on the spur of the moment as we are away in our caravan in the area and we are so glad we did. What a lovely friendly welcoming pub. Our dog was made to feel welcome too and was made a fuss of and given treats. We both ordered the Tetley & steak pie: one with mash and one with chips and we both said it was by far the best pie we have had. Absolutely delicious, in fact we've said we will bring the caravan back up here again just to visit the pub. So thank you very much for a delicious lunch and making us so welcome. Just a shame we found it on the last day of our trip.
What a wonderfully warm welcome we received as tourists visiting on a canal boat holiday. They were very kind and gave us a reservation on a busy night. Food was top tier - I had the cheese and onion with incredible home cooked chips. Staff very friendly and attentive. Absolute gem.

Called in on a Sunday afternoon with 2 dogs, made very welcome by the landlord and made sure we were comfortable with our dogs by moving us to a larger table, had a couple of pints of bitter which was in pristine condition and we ordered the fish and chips which came swiftly and piping hot,all in all, a very enjoyable experience made all the better by the excellent hospitality and quality products
