An incredible pub. So much character and warmness about it. The staff are AMAZING and incredibly friendly. The food is simply divine, and the beer selection is spot on. Hands down my favourite pub I have ever been to.
Joined former work colleagues for a catch-up meal. On arrival I found The Market Pub to be quite busy but a nice atmosphere. Our table was ready and after getting drinks at the bar we were seated quickly. We had been asked to place our food order a few days previously and the choices were checked before serving. I opted for just a main course, a beef and cheddar pie, chips and veg, and I'm glad I did because the portion of pie was extremely generous. The food was very tasty, but some of my veg was a little cold. Would I eat at The Market Pub again? Absolutely.
This used to be a great place for an evening drink with friends as well as an eating venue. It’s now mainly for food. There is a great choice of well kept real ales from a couple of breweries as well as the usual standards. The menu has plenty of choice and some great, imaginative specials. Everything we had was well prepared and tasted wonderful. Staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
Have been told its one of the best pubs in Chesterfield so we decided to give it a try. Well worth the trip. They offer a special lunch menu during the week, either 2 main meals for £23 or Any burger get a second for and additional £4.95. We tried the burgers. From bacon, crispy onion rings , to chorizo, black pudding ,pullled pork and even spar ribs off the bone their selection is amazing. They were cooked to perfection. My stilton cheese burger had 2 patties Char grilled, with stilton cheese premelted dripping down the patties. With onion marmalade and all the trimmings on a brioche bun. Seriously the best burger for miles. The other dishes we saw coming out looked as inviting but for me I ll be back to try some of the other burger crearions. Too good to miss out on.ps. we did go back and had the K pop chicken burger, it was divine! Photo below.
Came to this pub as I was told their pies are really good and I have to agree, I went for the chicken, Bacon and Leek pie and it was amazing, served with the chunkiest chips Ive ever had in my life. If you like a good quality pie then well worth a visit, you may have to book ahead as its a rather popular place.
Nice pub. A lovely choice of 9 guest hand pulled ales. A pub full of character. Shame it doesn't do the Camra discount.
Used to be brilliant but has become outdated and very overpriced. The recent eat-safe review giving only a 2 star hygiene rating has put me off for life. I know personally that there's very little training to catering staff (not even basic food hygiene) and that the head chef has commented to me their colleagues don't wash whites between shifts and are pulled up on this, but because the cramped conditions are create such awful work conditions not many want to work there so this is tolerated.
My boyfriend and I were visiting Chesterfield and randomly picked this pub to eat in. Really glad we did. The food was absolutely beautiful. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. It’s a proper ‘pub’ and they’re hard to find these days! Loved it. We’ll definitely be going back.
So happy we have stopped here! everybody was extremely friendly and we had delicious food freshly made! We couldn't believe how good it was for the price we paid. I would give them 6 stars if possible!
