Fantastic pub for Sunday lunch. The food was excellent, well cooked and tasted blooming lovely. Kudos to the chef. All the staff were really nice. All in all a lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Well worth a visit. Definitely will be back.

Charged £6.30 for a can of non-alcoholic Guinness which cost £2.63 at the Portland Hotel. More than my rail ticket to Chesterfield! I posted this via TripAdvisor and received a rude and personally insulting response from the landlord. As TripAdvisor won't let me respond, I will do so here. Firstly, I would like to point out that when replying to customer reviews, it is important to spell correctly, so people understand what you mean by "a very particular cliental" (the correct spelling is clientele). At least you have made it plain that you are happy to charge your "very particular cliental" more for their drinks to keep "a certain type of customer" out. Secondly, I left school at 15. Worked all my life, including over 20 years working underground, mainly on the coalface. In my 40s I achieved a degree in Politics at the University of Sheffield (not Hallam). Now I am almost 70, and I know what is right and wrong and £6.30 for a can of 0%. Guinness is absolutely ridiculous and, as a customer, I have a right to voice my opinion. With reference to the landlord's rude comment about me getting confused. It should be obvious to even the most limited intelligence that I was using the train ticket as a comparison to indicate that the train journey costs less than the can of Guinness (£4.85 return). The point I made about not drink driving is that it can be an option when going out, but not if you find yourself paying a premium for non-alcoholic drinks. Finally, I'm checking with all of my friends and, so far, none have said they apologised on my behalf. Even if they had apologised, it is my review and I stand by it. This must be coming very close to defamation of character on your behalf, and I think I should seek a solicitor's advice because, as we all know, what goes on the internet remains on the internet for all to view. As you have used the word "all" with regard to my friends, I am sure that under oath they could clear up this matter. Once again, £6.30 for a can of Guinness is ridiculous, and it does not matter whether it is Wetherspoons, or any other pub, which is selling it at a more reasonable price. It still serves as an indication of your attitude to those of us who choose not to drink alcohol, or cannot due to recovering from a recent operation for a subdural haematoma (in plain English, a brain bleed).

Proper pub. Well kept ales. Tim Taylor's Landlord was lovely as ever. I was using the electric car charger nearby and wanted to use the loo, which are nice and clean. SO I BOUGHT A DRINK. Such gems are not public toilets. So don't take the pi55. I will come back with family for a meal. It's a lovely venue.

We go in at lunchtime on a Friday! Steak pie is a favourite however we've sample alot of the menu and it's all excellent. Staff are welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Can get busy when sports events are on so would recommend booking a table
