We had a very comfortable, well equipped room with ample Tea and coffee and biscuits available. Large TV with an excellent bathroom and walk in shower. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. Staff were very friendly and very helpful Andrea on reception was welcoming and efficient. The hotel is in a very peaceful, tranquil location it is a very old, listed building with character. Thank you to Scott the General Manager who gave us a tour of the night club which is undergoing a major refurb and uplift. A fantastic, atmospheric, period venue perfect for any occasion. We will definitely be returning when the hotel upgrades are completed in the summer.

The rooms are clean tidy and comfortable. However the passage ways and other areas could do with a refresh. Dirty walls in the passage, loose door handles and dirty carpets are not a nice first impression. The long term guests are noisy and had to contend with the noise while trying to sleep. Food is relatively good but pricey. Overall not bad and I guess worth the price all things considered.

Lovely clean room, with very comfy bed, and bedding. I even had a balcony overlooking a river. Room 247. The staff I met were mostly new, but very enthusiastic. Reception were struggling with a new system, but nothing was too much trouble. Bar staff were again new, and very young, but did an excellent job with great attitude. I was at a function in the hotel and arrived late afternoon. I wasn't hungry so I didn't eat at the hotel. I even skipped breakfast so I can't comment on the food. However everybody I saw eating appeared to be enjoying it. I have stayed here many times over the last thirty odd years, each time different. Some great memories here, and I hope to enjoy more in the future.

The location was great. It felt tucked away in the midst of a bustling city, the staff was amazing. The room was really nice but the mattresses were so hard. Never slept on a mattress like that before.

We booked our 40th Ruby Wedding celebrations here so all our family and friends could stay - plenty of room and plenty of parking. They did a great package for 75 guests inc the β€˜honeymoon suite’ and we paid for our extra guests and to extend our stay from Friday through till Monday. Everybody raves about the room, the decorated tables, disability access it was all perfect! You can pay a bit extra for the upgraded rooms but the cheaper rooms were still lovely even if a bit tired - you cannot complain about the price! All in all we have had a fabulous weekend and would 109% recommend for any function

I visited with my teenage daughter, for afternoon tea. The food was great. The premises were lovely. Colin and Jessica excelled in looking after the two of us. My daughter would like us to both visit again, for a treat

Went for a Hen Party. Checked in at 3pm but rooms weren't even ready till 5pm. Was very very busy with other parties and a wedding. Guests were very rowdy. Bar was low stocked, no ice or fruit for drinks. Nightclub was open to the public also and was full....too full, so we didn't bother going in. Got asked at one point if we had any drugs by a very drunk, dirty old man. Food was nice and breakfast had a good choice. Wouldn't recommend this place and I wouldn't go again. Drinks are too expensive, take your own! And so many people were smoking in their rooms as you could smell it in the hallways. Definitely a fire hazard with so many drunk people around.

Large rooms, good food in the main restaurant. Some areas are a little bit tired and worn. Bar is busy and can take a long time to be served. Bar food is mediocre. The hotel has a certain charm that some will really like, including me. I have stayed here over 100 times over 18 years and I still think it has a lot to offer.
