We had an outstanding stay and the staff were superb - absolutely amazing every one of them! The only negatives worth mentioning are: 1) the floors creak with every step in some of the rooms. 2) I tried to discuss accessibility issues the week before our stay, but the online chat function didn't work. Do call them instead. 3) This building is grade 1 listed and ancient, so accessibility can be difficult if you struggle with stairs. There are a couple of ground floor rooms, and the staff will arrange breakfast in your room or in a ground floor room, if you mention it to them. To finish on a positive note, the house, grounds, food, and staff were all fantastic and I wouldn't hesitate to return. Thank you.

Castle is gorgeous, customer service was excellent. Only let down was the room. ‘tea station’ in the room, cups were stained, spoons were sticky and the kettle was green inside. All sorted at reception on request however slight pain for our night stay. There was a Christmas meal on for a local Business so walking through this on arrival was slightly awkward, however when in the lounge or our room we couldn’t hear a thing. Proposed on site, which was the perfect place. Many good locations and sites to use, will be considering returning for the wedding. Depending on promises on room cleanliness etc. Oh, and there was some blood on the floor. Understand things stain but some work could be done to get it to 5 stars for me.

Hazlewood castle is an absolutely stunning place to visit. We recently booked this place as our wedding venue but have also stayed and dined here a few times so here is my review. The castle and the grounds are absolutely beautiful, even the first drive up towards the castle down the long road and through all the trees makes you feel like you're in a completely different place. Once you get to the main entrance you are met with stunning views of the surrounding areas and fields, well kept gardens and even a few peacocks roaming around. After this you enter the castle itself where you are greeted by the most friendly of staff and a grand staircase right above reception. There are two bars in this venue, one I believe is for events mainly and another situated in the lounge where you can also enjoy afternoon tea, coffee and other refreshments with great views out of each window. You can also take a nice seat in the library, a beautiful low light room with a log burning fire and a secret door in the book case leading to other rooms! Also I can confirm this is a great place for a game of Uno. The main hall is one of the most stunning rooms you will be in at Hazlewood, with it's high ceilings, beautiful pillars, a very grand fireplace (the perfect place to have a top table) lovely views of the surrounding area from every window, all topped off with colour changing lights around the top of the room to add the perfect atmosphere for any occasion. There is also an on sight restaurant which I have dined in twice and both times it has not disappointed, there is plenty of variety on offer with different soups and type of fish changing either daily or weekly. Service can be a little slow at times however this has not affected either visit with the quality of food being fantastic. Our wedding day itself was planned out to perfection, everything ran so smoothly from all the vendors being allowed in at the right times, to food being served with the perfect intervals between courses for our wedding breakfast, Max was extremely helpful throughout the whole day and made me and my wife feel so relaxed with every part of the day. We are so happy we chose Hazlewood for our special day and would do it all over again. I would say my only slight negative would be the rooms, there are plenty of different rooms to stay in from regular doubles all the way up to 4 poster rooms, however I feel alot of the rooms could do with a little refresh to bring some life back into them, you can definitely keep the charm of the castle while also making sure showers are up to more modern standards, carpets are not looking so worn and the rooms could definitely do with a proper all over cobweb clean. However I loved every second I spent at this venue, had some of the best nights sleeps I've ever had in these beds and I completely understand the upkeep it must take to run a castle. Overall Hazlewood castle went above and beyond my expectations and they were already pretty high. I can not say enough how amazing every single member of staff I interacted with on every visit has been and I can not thank them enough. Everyone of our friends and family we had to join us on the days we spent there were also talking about how blown away by the castle they were. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone to just have an afternoon here or more and experience how beautiful of a place Hazlewood castle really is.

I was attending a weekend wedding celebration, so the hotel was put over to all these guests & managed to perfection: 1. Liked the prearrival checkin & chance to ask specific questions. Mine were all taken on board for my room requirements 2. All the staff were very friendly but professional. Specifically Amanda who was always there when needed & pulled out all the stops for our group, especially re booking a minibus for us back to Leeds Tuesday morning & suggesting we allow enough time due to traffic/roadworks 3. The room itself was lovely clean & tidy, but more importantly very quiet All in all a fantastic weekend, much due to every member of the hotel staff doing their jobs well/engaging with customers.

I had the most incredible experience at Hazelwood Castle Hotel and Spa — everything was simply amazing! From the moment I arrived, the team made me feel so welcome and cared for. Emma’s communication throughout was excellent, keeping everything smooth and stress-free. Steve and Amanda were incredibly approachable and friendly, always ready with a smile and helpful advice. Max truly stole the show — his professionalism, understanding, and ability to accommodate every need was outstanding. He went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect, and most importantly, he made my proposal come to life in the most magical way. I couldn’t have asked for a better setting or support for such a special moment. A huge thank you to Max and the rest of the wonderful team at Hazelwood Castle. You made my visit unforgettable, and I can’t wait to return!

Only went for afternoon tea, but long enough to see how gorgeous the building and rooms are. The staff are really, really friendly and helpful, all of them. Felt very warm and welcoming, not in the slightest bit stuffy, quite an achievement for such a high end venue. Would love to return at some point.
