We stayed in room 4. The bathroom heater didn't work, and we had ice on the inside. Obviously we didn't notice until bed time by which time it was too late to say anything. Apart from that, it was a lovely comfy snuggly room. The late lunch we had was sub par, and the angry restaurant manager was still there barking at the staff and still lacking man management skills. And the question is. Would we stay again? Maybe stay, check room first. But not eat

Amazing peacefull place with quality foods and accomodation. We stayed in the family room on the second floor. The restaurant’s air intake unit is close to this room and operates automatically. There is no problem during the day, but it makes a lot of noise at night (especially weekends). This issue needs to be resolved, as the children can sometimes be disturbed. Apart from this, everything is perfect.

Business Christmas lunch for eight colleagues. Unfortunately, the experience fell well below expectations. The atmosphere was uncomfortable from the outset, largely due to the behaviour of the duty manager. Rather than setting a positive, professional tone, her manner appeared to create tension among the team, and this came through clearly in the service. A well-run venue should feel calm, confident and welcoming. This did not. The most inappropriate moment came at the point of payment. The manager approached the server processing our bill and said, audibly, “Make sure you add service charge.” A discretionary charge should never be enforced in this way, particularly when service levels do not justify it. It left an extremely poor impression. The food itself was underwhelming and overpriced for the quality delivered. Overall, the experience represented poor value for money. Most disappointing of all was the sense that customers were treated as an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests. In today’s competitive hospitality market, this approach is both outdated and damaging. There are many excellent places to eat locally. Regrettably, this is not one I would recommend for either business or social dining.

We live close by and often pop in for a drink during our dog walk. Today ALL the tables were reserved for a sporting event. The bar staff were nonchalant about it. I dont think this is appropriate in a hotel bar, could just imagine if you were staying there , wanted an afternoon drink after shopping or something, it wouldn't happen. We have had meals and drinks regularly in this hotel and feel like avoiding it from now on.

I stayed here for one night only. Imagine that the place is a hotel for 200 years, but the building was built in the 15th century!! The rooms are cosy , combining the old and modern. Quiet place only disturbed by the noise of the cars passing on the bridge built over the river that lays in front of the hotel. There is hat and cold breakfast included, which is quite unique. Will surely come back one day.

On the banks of the Thames, with great views and a fantastic bar and restaurant. The food here is very good. Be aware, during the winter months and after heavy rain the height of the Thames can exceed the banks, so some local flooding may occur.

The kitchen staff are not trained here. We have now had two bad meals here arguably the first time was a few years ago on Christmas day and you would of thought there would of been some changes. However Last Friday we got some food here for a birthday meal and my mum ordered the buttermilk chicken burger. After taking the first bit she realised the burger was totally raw. She told the bar staff who completely agreed it was raw and gave her money back and offered her a pudding which she kindly refused.

Just popped in for lunch - party of four. The Hophead ale superb as always. Fish & chips and crab burger decent. Two of us chose sandwiches (one coronation chicken, one fish finger) which were not great - the bread was dry on the outside - obviously cut many hours before, if not yesterday. The thin scraping of coronation sauce didn’t contain any convincing evidence of actual chicken, so a bit pricey at £9+. As always, I compare with the Three Horseshoes a couple of miles away - they offer similar sandwiches/wraps at similar prices, but always perfectly made, and gorgeous. Hence, always rammed to the rafters, whereas Swan more or less empty. Different gravy.

Fabulous find. The setting is beautiful and the building is quirky and cosy. The fudge, toiletries and coffees/teas are a lovely touch in the room A big thank you to Roberto(?) for his attentive service. Highly recommend

In reply to the Managers comment on my 4 stars, rather than 5 stars. The customer service at the point of reservation was excellent. The service at the table and food was very good. The one thing that stopped me giving 5 stars was the (I assume) mandatory service charge of 12.5%. I normally always give a tip of about 10% but I prefer the freedom to decide what I want to give. Even if voluntary I do not want to go through the embarrassing process of asking for the service charge to be amended. To be honest, this 12.5% service charge would put me off returning as what would I do if I got poor service? Food and drink in restaurants is now very expensive in relative terms given the current cost of living increases. Add a mandatory service charge like this and it could put people off returning or even going in the first place. Food for thought re getting my 5 stars.
