We had a lovely festive lunch at The Chequers today. My roast dinner was spot on, delicious Yorkshire puddings. Portions were so big we left feeling very satisfied. Izzy was incredibly friendly and was very attentive as our server and made us feel at home - thank you Izzy!!! The pub is dog friendly too which was perfect as we had two large, excited dogs with us.

Lovely country pub - cosy fireplace in the winter and fab garden for the summer! The food is great, nice variety on the menu. My elderly grandparents live close by - Chloe and the team have been so so lovely to them and know them by name. We really appreciate them taking such good care of them and providing such a warm welcome when they visit

Very excellent in all respects. Came in for Sunday lunch with a bunch of friends. We were looked after so well by the landlords and their staff which made for a wonderful experience. The food was well presented, tasted yummy and decently priced for the high quality it was. A good range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available so we were well covered. The area is good for walking and cycling so having the very convenient car park was a real bonus. However do remember to grab a token for the barriers on the way out!

Although we have lived in Walton on the Hill for 2 years we have not been to the Chequers before. May I say what a most pleasant surprise my wife and I had. The ambiance, beers, and wine selection by the glass was excellent. Our food was simple but delightful, well flavoured, hot and nicely presented. A most pleasant village pub experience, consequently I booked a table for 6 in one of their chalets in the garden for the 6 Nations rugby! Russell Bracegirdle

The stars are for the ambience, which is great. The inside is well done up, large and spread out, with the menus on each table tucked into an old hardback novel. The outside is also large, elegant with cosy nooks for more privacy or a family meal. However, the portions are very small and really expensive. For example: 3 cumberland sausages with mash, £14.50. A tartin about 2 inches diameter, £7.50. Taste is good; not great. The service is okay- friendly but a bit slow. So- go there for the ambience on a sunny day and with a fat wallet.

Beautiful pub and huge garden- was really nice to sit out and enjoy the sun. I had the Sunday Roast beef which was a quite a big portion and very tasty. If I were to make one suggestion that would be to make the roast potatoes more crispy. Fish and chips were good too. Probably worth booking on a Sunday
