Stayed for one night in late December. We booked 3 rooms for me and two other friends, we checked-in separately and the last one to arrive faced problems with obtaining his room because the people working here clearly don't know how to do their job, he eventually succeeded after arguing with the manager. As I entered my room I was immediately greeted by a freezing cold temperature, cranked up the heater but it kept turning off after 10 minutes or so. The bed and matress were clearly worn out and outdated, there are no plugs near the bed (I wondered what would happen if someone who needs a CPAP overnight got a room here), the neon lights work with prayers. Cleaning is not their speciality either, as I found stagnant water in the tub along with hair left from a previous guest, a brunette woman I believe. For the price we paid we weren't expecting luxury but basic services and hygiene must belong to every accommodation premise. The only good thing about this hotel is the position, very close tho the center and that's about it. This isn't the first Travelodge I've been in but certainly the worst, I suggest updating since it clearly doesn't respect the standard any recurring travelodge customer would be used to.

I stayed one night in this hotel for a concert at the Utilita Arena. Pros: Close to the Arena Bed was reasonably comfortable Room was a decent size Cons: The hotel is situated on a very busy street, full of bars, pubs and clubs with lots of groups, hen parties and stag parties. This meant noisy nightlife at about 4am with fights, sirens, screaming, pumping music. Also lots of piles of vomit on the street the morning after. It's quite a rough area, so a lot of homeless, beggers and signs of drug deals/usage on the street outside. I barely got any sleep as the noise from the street below was loud most of the night. Despite the room being on the sixth floor, the windows are so thin that it sounds like you are outside at street level. There are 2 small lifts but one was out of order, so we had to queue for the lift both up and down each time we left or returned to the hotel. I would not recommend this hotel.

Rooms need to be upgraded not enough power sockets none near the bed and lighting was poor switches that didn't do anything and the double glazed window you couldn't see out of because it was blown. Staff looked stressed out and at night 2 x security guards gave the wrong impression. The positive side was location near to the theatres and plenty of places to eat and drink, and ample transport into the city centre.

Great night’s sleep in a comfortable bed following a lovely night out in the city centre. Room was spacious and clean heater in the room warmed it up nicely. TV, kettle in good working order. Staff friendly and welcoming. Sainsbury’s across the road was handy. Great location for a night out in Brum, would happily stay again and recommend.

This is a budget hotel so that's what should be expected. It was clean enough and the staff were friendly but I wouldn't want to stay here for more than one night. Lift was broke and the other wouldn't come to the ground floor. The room felt like it wasn't built to be a hotel, cheap and out of date. However it's great value for money.

I was in room 717. Hot water tap fell off, but that didn't matter because there was no hot water. No one says anything, you need to go and ask - was told they don't know when it would be fixed. I don't normally write reviews but I needed to here. Curtains don't close properly, so the always-on lights of the adjacent hotel provided an extra challenge getting to sleep - I thought I might get a sunburn with all the light coming into the room. Lastly, the hours sleep I did get was short lived! There is a nightclub right downstairs so when I danced myself awake, I couldn't get back to sleep. Its so loud, you can make out the lyrics. I was on the 7th floor! Absolute bangers though, fair play to the club - I'm sure everyone enjoyed their night, but I didn't. If you want to sleep, don't come here. Absolutely avoid at all costs.

Looking rather shabby nowadays, definitely needs a tidy up. Only 2 lifts to service the hotel. Ideal as a base for a night on the town. Make sure when you request extra pillows that you wait and take them upstairs to your room straight away. We asked for ours at 7pm, my partner went back to the room and asked again at around 8pm. When we got back to our room at 1245 they weren't there so another trip to reception waited approx 20min for housekeeping to come to the room

Staff were brilliant. Rooms are spacious and clean if a little tired. The location is very central, even more so now that the metro extension to Edgbaston is open. That central location, combined with a very old building does mean that it is quite noisy, even in the rooms at the back of the building. It is relatively cheap though!

We booked here as it's very close to Symphony Hall where we were going to a concert and within walking distance of New Street Station. The receptionist had put us on the 8th floor where it was meant to be quieter but she put us in room 801, RIGHT next to the lift mechanism on the top floor! We didn't sleep a wink, the lift was constant, like water torture! Between that, the bottles emptying into bins at the end of the night down on the street and nightclub goers shrieking and shouting, it was the worst night we've ever had in a hotel. However, the manager moved us to the 4th floor when I asked the next morning, and I slept like a log the second night! My partner didn't though, for my snoring!! The rooms are spotless, the staff are lovely. It's a very popular area for clubs and pubs, so the noise outside was through no fault of the hotel. I don't suppose any of the staff has noticed the sound of the mechanism of the lifts, so I don't blame them at all. But please, leave room 801 empty, make it into a laundry room! Just don't put folk in there who need a quiet night!

Top staff who sorted us out big time. I recommend this hotel for staying in brum especially if you want to be close to the nightlife! We saw Kendrick Lamar and they were brilliant late at night too!
