   Checked in at about 10pm tonight, its 5:45am now!, havent slept and wont be! The room is filthy! Full of mould, cobwebs and terribly painted walls to cover mould. I havent dared to get in the shower like i planned and will be leaving as soon as someone is on the desk! I have SEVERE asthma and have stayed here twice before and the rooms werent mouldy at all if anything they were immaculate! But theres clearly some rooms that have been left alone for 10s of years and the smell shows it. Musty carpets and bed stand, dead bugs on the wall, (again) MOULD EVERYWHERE Ive been up all night with breathing issues that only started as soon as i stepped in this hotel. Have had my head out the one window that opens hoping for some sense of fresh air. I have no clue how my partner has slept but i can only say we did hours and hours and hours of driving after work so probably crashed before inspecting the room! Stay so very clear of this hotel or if u do have to go here for budget reasons please view the room before you decide to climb into bed when you fully notice everything! Surely this place isnt inspected?! Or when it is inspected they hide the vile rooms and show the ones theyve purposely painted? Learning a hard lesson about what you get is what you pay for!!!! (And thats why im going to premier inn now)

   Unfortunately I was attending a Wake but the Avenue Club was an ideal venue. It was centrally located with easy access to main routes. The club itself was nice - very clean and well decorated. Access was good for wheelchairs and the room where the venue was easy to move around. The food served was plentiful and lovely. All in all a lovely place.

   Unfortunately, in room 9, the bed needed a new mattress, the heat control on the shower didn't work and was scolding hot. The TV remote control didn't work and the lighting level in the room was poor. There were several items not available on the evening menu, so I ordered a beef burger from those said to be available, but was told they couldn't complete that order either and at breakfast we were told that they only had one slice of bacon left. The staff were friendly enough and helpful, but the overall experience was poor.

   This was honestly one of the worst hotel stays I’ve experienced. The bathroom was in an unacceptable condition. The shower had mold and grime all around the edges, the sealant was cracked and dirty, and the door didn’t even close properly. The door handle to the room, itself was broken and hanging on by just two screws, which felt unsafe and careless. To make matters worse, there was an actual hole in the bathroom floor, and an awful smell constantly came up from the drains. It was impossible to feel comfortable or clean in there. The kettle in the room was disgusting, with thick limescale and residue all over the heating element, clearly never cleaned. I didn’t even dare use it. Bed bases and duvets had brown staining on them, 2 pillows had been put in 1 pillow case and they were considerably flat. TV remote was missing the back to the batteries and barely worked. Overall, the place was filthy, poorly maintained, and clearly neglected. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, spend your money elsewhere.

   The lady who booked me in was lovely! Very friendly and polite. That was the only good thing. Apart from her, in my opinion, the place is the worst hotel I have ever stepped into. The place is in, what looks like, the extension of a local social club (think Phoenix nights without the funny side!). First impressions were bad! It smelled dreadful, was dirty, apart from the lady booking me in, the staffing was not exactly “hospitable”. I was out within an hour and will never return. If you are considering the place, maybe have a rethink. It’s grim! As I stepped into the “hotel”, section there was a distinct musty smell. Really dated! I got to my room, the mirror smashed, brown stain on the blinds and the laminated flyers had stuck to them, what I presume to be, old food waste. I asked to check out where the lad, who appeared to be the supervisor, insisted that I view another room or have my current room cleaned. He offered a drink whilst this happened but I had a distinct lack in confidence surrounding the hygiene of the place, so declined. The second room was slightly better but still dirty with some sort of, what appeared to be, black mould around the windows. I left without staying. The guy running the place said that he wasn’t allowed to give refunds and it would be down to head office. He gave me their details but no email address, which in itself feels like a bad sign for a business. Fortunately, after explaining my situation, the excellent staff at Expedia offered me a refund. Drove around for a few hours after but eventually found somewhere basic but clean. Ultimately, that’s all I wanted. The Avenue needs a massive overhaul, starting with a good scrub! I’ve read some horrific reviews on other sites and wish that I had seen them before. It is bad for anyone but I definitely would avoid, especially from vulnerable groups.

   Great price for working away, staff so friendly and can’t do enough for you, rooms were clean and the food is lovely. I’ll be staying here whenever I’m in Birmingham in future!

   Went there to a wake. Very nicely set out. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The buffet that was put on was very good with a wide choice of food. The place was clean and well decorated. There was parking but I couldn't see any disabled spaces which made it difficult to get my wife's wheelchair in and out. But overall a very good exoerience.

   Cosy , comfortable and friendly place. Went there for a darts match and was welcomed warmly by staff. Football was on , sound was easily heard and screens could be viewed from anywhere. Prices were decent and beer was good! Will definaty return!

   Stayed here for one night and definitely won't be returning. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've stayed in, could feel the springs in the mattress (woke up in pain in the middle of the night) and the pillows was as thin as cardboard, did ask for extra which the staff did bring. The room it self needs tlc, the blinds had all stains on them and the walls could do with a lick of paint. The shower was also coldish and couldn't get it to go warm. Will say that the staff was friendly though.
