Building looks lovely but rooms.s and bathrooms are very outdated and windows are so old they let in all the cold and they had mould on them.

We were a family of 19 including 4 children and took over the whole hotel. Andrew was an amazing host communicating with us before and during our stay. The hotel was perfectly clean and every room was comfortable. There are amazing views and walks on the doorstep. This is an amazing place.

We recently stayed for 2 nights as we were attending my brotherβs wedding which was being held at the venue. The location of the old rose & crown is beautiful & picturesque. Communication with the hotel prior to our arrival was excellent, (I had a few questions that were answered quickly and professionally.) Check in was speedy & without any hassle, Dawn (the lady who checked us in) was absolutely amazing, Iβd mentioned previously it was our youngest childβs birthday on our arrival date & Dawn went out of her way to make his day extra special (Dawn Thankyou so much for his card, balloon & treats - he felt very special indeed!) On my brothers wedding day both Dawn & Andrew were beyond helpful & nothing was to much trouble. All the staff worked hard in making the wedding day go without a glitch.

This is the first time weβve been for Christmas dinner at the old Rose and Crown. The location is lovely. There were 15 in our party. The table was beautifully decorated as were all the other dining tables etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was piping hot, delicious and you werenβt rushed between courses. We would definitely book again. It was a lovely treat.

First up. The location is perfect, I can't fault that. It's also clean, so it's another plus. However, when booking, I was informed that it was bed only and that breakfast is available to buy in an adjacent cafe. (It's not adjacent, but rather a difficult short walk that was not favourable for my disabled wife). Ok, fair enough - I was expecting a cafe that could cater for all diets - but it is not vegan/veggie friendly. No cereal, fruit or fruit juice, just sausage and bacon and other pig based products. A BIG let-down. Considering that they do weddings here, giving guests a bit of breakfast doesn't seem to me to be a big ask. Then there's the 'hands off' approach of the owners. It seems that guests are an afterthought, and the main business is weddings and functions. The room was ok, but it was cold during periods that the central heating was off, and when it was on, the windows condensed so badly that water was running down the windows. The car park is very uneven and stony - not good for disabled people. The shower was awful, didn't warm up enough, despite putting it on full heat it was lukewarm. Toilet seat was wrong size for the toilet and inappropriate for disabled people. Smokers going out slam the front door, which is annoying if your room is directly over it. Not vegetarian or disabled friendly, and for Β£90 a night, not good value for money. Was glad to leave. Disappointed and won't be back

To Andrew, Dawn an the team. My wife Tamzin and I had our amazing wedding day here yesterday. It was perfect from start to finish, Dawn looked after us and went above an beyond to make sure our day ran smooth an guided us through. The staff were so professional and worked really hard, the food was amazing everyone said so. Our service, meal, and nighttime buffet were all perfect. The bedroom was spotless, warm an bed very comfy. Recommended to anyone looking for a perfect day β€οΈ

Most reviews talks about the place as a wedding venue. Very few talks about the staying experience as a hotel. Itβs extremely cold at night, as the heater was centrally turned off. I have to wear down jacket under the blanket but still my face is freezing cold. The night shift front desk receptionist is very nice though, and the room itself is a good value if it wasnβt that cold.

Held our wedding ceremony and reception here, thank you so much the whole team especially Andrew and Dawn our wedding co-ordinator for making everything run so smoothly and beautifully. The food was amazing and you looked after our guests so well. We have received so many compliments regarding food, music and atmosphere. You ensured we have nothing but happy and precious memories of our special day to cherish forever. Lots of love Mr&Mrs Denston β€οΈ and the kids x

Had a wonderful weekend here, with my daughter. It was my 60th birthday. They was having a murder mystery event, which I really enjoyed. I was spoilt rotten, by my daughter. The owner gave me a free bottle of wine too. Thank you. Highly recommend this place to everyone. Lovely place, lovely rooms.
