The waiting room in Mytholmroyd was virtually empty and I was seen straight away. Saw Dr David Thorpe and found him to be attentive and compassionate. The only reason I'm docking a star is that continuity of care remains an issue (I imagine not just in Hebden) and it's unlikely I'll see the same GP the next time round. But other than that I think the practice has improved immensely in the last few months.

Fabulous! As a seriously sight impaired patient I had to visit the GPs in Hebden this week. From the receptionist to the doctor the service was fantastic. Disability awareness can be hit and miss at the sister practice in Mytholmroyd but here the staff were amazing. Thank you for making my visit stress free.

Absolutely amazing service, having just moved to the area, I had been told by my GP from previous area to go to A and E as he could not send a prescription over. I went in late on Friday to Valley Practice, they registered me there, a clinician gave me a prescription and all at 6.00 pm just as they were closing. Reception staff so helpful and this saved a long visit to A and E and all that wasted resource for the NHS. What a great service.

I’ve previously left a 1 star review, as my experience had been dreadful. However, since the introduction of the new appointment and triage system I cannot recommend this practice enough. I have always been able to get timely appointments for myself and my family and them quick referrals to specialists when necessary. I’m not sure if there has been a change of staff or whether the system is working well for everyone but the help and support I’ve received recently from all administrative and medical staff has been excellent. Thank you!

I honestly can't imagine a worse GP's practice. Reception staff are rude and incompetent - I'm literally told a different thing every time I call or go in and if you explain that or query anything about the appalling service then they are defensive and unbelievably unprofessional. It has been practically impossible to get necessary appts for myself and my newborn baby despite them telling me that without an appt they can not administer daily medication (that I need to stay alive!) and they're sending me letters about my baby needing basic immunisations. The one Dr I did manage to speak to was appalling. There's no wonder that this practice is rated the worst in Calderdale, if you have a choice then go elsewhere.

Too many unfair negative comments. Ok, 1 or 2 reception staff seem unhelpful but note the stress they are under. Most reception staff are good. All the nurses are good. All the doctors are exceptionally good. Times are hard but when you have a problem they are on it

Absolutely brilliant experience today. The receptionist was very kind and empathetic, was able to get an appointment to see a doctor straight away. Doctor was also brilliant!!

It’s basically impossible to get an appointment at this surgery. It’s so distressing. I’m sure the staff work hard and deal with difficult circumstances but the service is dreadful. The entire point of a GP surgery is to speak to a doctor but the only way to book an appointment seems to be if you call at 8am and get stuck in a 30 minute queue. Why doesn’t the surgery have an online booking system? It’s 2022. Why do you make it so difficult to just book an appointment? Moved from a wonderful surgery and feel hopeless.

Receptionist was extremely rude and very unhelpful this morning. Unfortunately she was the first person I spoke to in trying to get help with an issue I have been dealing with, and she was very rude and sarcastic. Refusing to book an appointment with me to see my GP and claiming that I can only have a phone call appointment, which seemed to be fully booked forever (not sure how that’s possible?). My living circumstances are complicated and she made no effort is attempting to realise that not everyone fits into a category. She was sarcastic and fake on the phone when saying goodbye, which I find infuriating, considering she was useless and rude prior. I ended the phone call feeling pretty upset and then realised that there was a large amount of negative reviews online, regarding this receptionist (or other like her). This should definitely be addressed, as I believe all who work in health care should have a duty of care to patients, especially those assigned to their local GP.
