Had a very nice Xmas dinner & dance there on 13th December. Nice big room from last time, but rather a bit light on the dinner on our plates, we did need a lot more vegetables. Had to also ask for more custard on the Xmas pudding. Didn't know about the mince pies although they weren't very nice anyway. Xmas Crackers had no snap with them.! Good music for dancing

Be aware this place charges you £15 per 24 hours to stay in their car park!!! And they don't tell you when booking your stay that this is the case. Had I known I never would have stayed here. The rooms are outdated and in desperate need of updating. The breakfast was seriously lacking and not good. I placed my order and then 10 minutes later the same waiter came back "sorry what did you say you wanted again?" Considering the price they charge per night here you'd think they'd at least not charge you to park. You can stay in other much nicer places and park for free. Even Premier Inn is nicer than this place. Avoid!

Comfortable 'old school' hotel. Rooms warm and comfortable. Both of us slept well. We didn't think the full English was the best we've ever had, but that's perhaps personal preference. We tried Eggs Royal and Eggs Benedict the second and third mornings. They were excellent. All the staff we had dealings with were friendly and helpful. We booked this hotel because it was only a little more expensive than a Premier Inn, and we considered it worth the extra. However, we didn't take into account the extra £45 (£15 per 24 hours) to use the car park! This is something I will definitely consider for future stays, and is the only thing that would stop me booking again.

On first inspection beautiful hotel. The decor in the public areas is beautiful, the receptionist was friendly and helpful. Sadly our room was very tired and brown. The building is old and but in a fabulous way. You can tell its got history. But the room I had was old fashioned in the wrong way. The pine furniture was not ornate but functional and that's the only appeal it had. The walls where damaged and painted dark brown. It lacked warmth on both an ascetic nature and the temperature. No water bottle? It was very basic and I was so disappointed as the public areas are beautifully presented. No lifts, so ask for a ground floor room if you have problems with steps. The hotel has so much to offer but it clearly runs on events. The wedding photos need updating. It missed on so many levels. Location for the Shambles is excellent, no. 7 bus runs every 10 mins from outside. Parking at the hotel too, rare for York. It could be amazing, it was just OK. I cannot fault reception, super friendly and helpful.

Stayed at the Pavilion for weekend with my husband. We had an amazing weekend. The staff were extremely friendly especially the lady on reception (she may have been called Dee). Also the waitress that served in restaurant on Friday evening. The food was beautiful and very well presented. Look forward to returning in future. Thankyou again xx

What a lovely weekend; another gem from Best Western. Our room was a little rough around the edges, and the main radiator didn't work, but nothing really distracted from what was actually a lovely space. The bed was comfortable, the room spacious, the TV service excellent, with main streaming services all available. WiFi was good. Despite sitting on a main access route into York, the site was quiet, and the gardens lovely, even in February!!! Definitely worth a visit if you are visiting York. Thank you for a lovely couple of nights.

I had an amazing time here and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to visit York. It is close enough to York Center but far enough out that you still get a peaceful trip away. Was very pleased with our included breakfast with a variety of options to suit any tastes (includes both continental and full English). Will be visiting here again.

Really lovely old feeling hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful. The room was stunning making you feel like you stepped back in time. Bathroom with the jacuzzi tub and huge walk in shower was amazing. Deffintatly will stay again.

Been 4 times this year and it has been a good stay. The only problem now is that breakfast is not a buffet and sadly the food comes cold. We even tried some porridge and that was the same. Please revert back to the buffet. Apart from that all the rooms have been excellent.
