Great location whilst on a long journey and in need of a stop over. Staff were very good, professional and helpful. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast not so good, hash browns soggy and bacon completely overcooked. It was clear everything had been sat there for some time, we went in at 8am so it's not like we were late. Car parking, not clear on Booking.com but having to pay six quid to park your car whilst staying the night in a rip off.

Location is great if like me you are breaking a journey because it’s very close to the A1. But as there is nothing else at the location it’s not so great if there’s no chef on a Friday night. So no restaurant. Dinner was a choice of pepperoni pizza or curry! No one seemed that bothered and in fact a little surprised that a woman travelling on her own might not have wanted to get back in the car after a 5 hour journey to look for somewhere to eat alone. No cooked breakfast either and a very uninspiring continental buffet which wasn’t worth what I paid. Car parking charge of £5.99 wasn’t clear on booking.com. That said, the room was a good size, clean and comfortable. Water was hot. View of broken down, rusty containers didn’t help the overall vibe of a hotel that needs to up its game. Very unclear what puts the Plus in Best Western Plus. Edited to add that having raised these issues direct with the hotel their response was that the restaurant was only offering two choices because occupancy was low - so if you do make the mistake of booking a room here make sure you check if anyone else is there! Shocking customer service.

Having just had an overnight stay at this hotel with a coach party it was amazing. The rooms were spacious and very clean, bedding and pillows top quality and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff in the hotel were amazing, going above and beyond to make us all feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Food was good and drinks plenty of choice and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend the hotel. Thank you to all the staff for a comfortable, enjoyable stay.

Large comfortable rooms and really helpful staff. As they didn't have an evening chef, they gave us 24hrs warning and booked us into a lovely pub just a few minutes drive away. Breakfast was great though. Great location for breaking a long journey.

There was a male waiting at the reception with a drink, asking for a room. There were none, but he still remained. He was possibly an immigrant or homeless. As a lone female traveller, I wrote on my checking in form to not say my room number. It felt uncomfortable. Not sure if this is a frequent event but I wondered why he was being allowed to stand at the reception desk watching people check in- there was a bar that he could have sat in. Staff were friendly, room smelt a bit damp, but was fine. Convenient location and easy parking.

Very poor hotel the staff did there best, it's management that's the problem. Poorly maintained furniture I cut my thumb on a staple not good. The sink in our bathroom wouldn't drain the plunger was stuck down, the AC was very poor.

Comfortable bed which made for a decent night's stay. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Very good room facilities. The outside looks a little bit run-down but who cares if the room is comfortable hey?

I arrived tonight as a last minute booking and I was informed that the restaurant was closed as the chef had called in sick. To be honest it has not spoiled my visit and whilst the reception staff were extremely apologetic I can sympathize with their situation as I appreciate how difficult it is for them to recruit staff in these very challenging times. It would be easy to have a go at the hotel but in the current climate I do believe it is better to accept the situation as it is and support the hospitality industry as they try to survive the post pandemic fallout. The room is very comfortable and the staff extremely professional, hence the 5 stars.
