Just a little off the track - but walkable to the city walls [5-10 minutes]. Lovely comfy bed, great shower. A little dark in the room but it was roomy and clean. Staff where really friendly, good breakfast to set the morning up, although the coffee machine was a bit temperamental. The food was good, cosy bar for a nightcap. Would definitely stay again.

Nice furnishings good swimming pool. Didn't use restaurant. Room very hot fan available. More of a walk from station than expected by description. Would use again.

I stayed there over 6 years ago. The hotel was very dated at the time. My single room was very small and cluttered. It was a bit of a walk to the centre. However, the staff were helpful and friendly and at the time they served a great Full English Breakfast. Have never tasted bacon like it and was perfectly cooked.

I had a single room for one night. The room was badly furnished with very old and tired furniture, a shower head from 1980s, unpleasant bedding and dirty pillows. There were bare wires above an ancient trouser press which had a sticker on it from 1992! the fan was broken, the iron only worked on maximum. I slept on top of the duvet but got bitten. What a disgrace. I spoke to the manager and showed him everything. No apology or refund. I have photos to prove all the above.

Bed Bugs! We couldn't believe that a hotel under a reputable banner like "Best Western" would have such dirty accommodation. We couldn't fault the service of the lady on the desk, she was very welcoming and helpful and made us feel at home. The rooms were outdated but it matched the decor and state of the hotel itself which wasn't a problem to us. We like old hotels with personality. The swimming pool was great, we couldn't fault that. We travelled with out infant son and we hadn't noticed the state of the beds until we ourselves went to sleep and was shocked to find bed bugs in a horrifying quantity. Some were small and static but others were big enough to be crawling across the beds. We were astonished and then felt incredibly guilty that we left out son exposed to this for a couple of hours without us noticing. We made the choice to abandon our stay and drove back home in the early hours of the morning which was an hour and a half journey. This caused our son significant stress as he was deep in his sleep. The place needs fumigating. We feel disgusted.

The staff were so lovely really makes a difference when they make you feel welcome. The rooms were clean, comfortable and warm. The leisure facilities were great loved the pool and steam room.

Friendly welcome on arrival and throughout our stay. The bed was really comfortable and had no problems sleeping. The room was large and had all the items you need like a tv, kettle, ironing board etc. The rooms are slightly dated but at the same time fell fresh and airy, I would stay here again. My only one small complaint is why are there no plug sockets next to the bed, like must people I need to charge my phone and watch up and like them next to the bed, not a massive problem any means but something I personally like when staying in hotels. Also no usb sockets. 10-15 minute gentle walk in to the town centre. Would I stay here again, more than likely as long have no complaints and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was amazing and the waitress was lovely this morning, nothing was to much trouble. Limited parking available and train station not to far away. They do not do evening meals but are happy for takeaway to be brought back to your room.

A good value clean and tidy hotel. It is located in a quiet location in easy walking distance to the centre. The 10 metre swimming pool is decent as are the changing rooms. I would definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel for a weekend trip to York. Rooms are okay, clean and comfortable although a little noisy but we only used it for sleeping in. Bus stop across the road or a short 15 minute walk into York centre. Staff are very welcoming and helpful.
