The hotel is lovely and easy walk into the main town. The room itself 172 was in the lodge and was nice. Unfortunately outside the window is where their main aircon units are stored which were extremely noisy, going on and off all night. The underneath of toilet seat was stained. Charged Β£38.90, for a double absolute vodka and tonic and double whiskey, a wee bit pricey. Β£146 for 1 night and breakfast which was lovely and Β£18 for parking so prob not the cheapest hotel around for the same facilities bit still nice.

We have had the pleasure of visiting York numerous times and what a fantastic experience weβve had with our Hotel choices. However, sadly, we found this hotel not so great as the others. We arrived and were greeted with warmth. So to be clear, the service was fab. After spending a glorious time out in York we ventured back to our hotel looking forward to a good meal which is advertised served all day. To our disappointment when asking what times were available that evening, we were told that no residents are being served tonight due to a private party already booked in. I completely understand and respect that residents arenβt the only source of income but not making your guests aware that food wasnβt available, simply isnβt good customer service. My wife and I then ventured out again to eat and then returned to settle for a night cap. We were then informed that residents could actually eat but only after 8:30 pm. Bearing mind we returned before 8 pm and residents were eating in the hall away from the comfy dinner area. We are very disappointed and confused with our stay and would suggest other guests ask at booking on any future partyβs or food times as we feel that this should have been explained to us when checking in. Rooms cosy and should be better and cleaner for a 4 star rating.

Lovely hotel, great reception and room service staff. Friendly and very helpful. We had a king size courtyard room which was clean and had a fridge and kettle. Bed was comfortable and shower worked well. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. Parking available at hotel but limited or car park at the Mount School which always had spaces. The walk into York took about 25 minutes. Only small criticism was the bar ran out of drinks including sauvignon white wine. Other than that would definitely come and stay again.

We chose this for convenience. I was travelling back from Edinburgh by train and my husband drove up to meet me. It was an easy walk from the station and easy to find by car, with the benefit of a car park. Check in online was easy with the app and the staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival. The hotel still retains a lot of Georgian charm, with modern conveniences. The room had air con, unexpectedly useful in an unusually warm November, with a large bathroom with big, walk in shower and freestanding bath. After a comfortable and quiet night's sleep in the king size bed, we had a good breakfast in the lovely restaurant. The waiting staff were attentive and helpful and there was a good gluten free selection. We took the opportunity to walk into the centre of York, again, an easy, level walk. We like character properties and this was a great find. Sadly, we only had one night before leaving to meet friends but we would be happy to stay again. We can think of nothing negative to stay. This was a gem.

Stunning hotel with beautiful preserved features, apparently it used to be a manor house and has been used for a hospital in wartime. You can feel the history when you walk through the door. Staff were welcoming when I arrived very late and everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. The room was lovely with everything I needed, quality toiletries, a comfortable bed and powerful shower. Location was perfect for me, a short drive from the town centre. I was lucky enough to get free street parking right outside the hotel (6pm-8am, then you get an hour so can actually park until 9am). I would definitely stay again and hopefully for longer next time!

Beautiful hotel with extremely welcoming staff! Our room was fabulous (321) - absolutely huge, with stylish decor and little touches. Breakfast options were great with a continental option as well as hot menu. Loved the help yourself Virgin Mary! Weβd like to give a shout out to Ash who was working the bar and night shift one night and was a delight - gave us lots of tips on places to visit. Would highly recommend a stay here if visiting York. Thanks for having us!

Bit of a mixed review. Weβd gone here for a murder mystery night, which was fantastic. The hotel is STUNNING and was just what we were looking for. Spacious bedrooms, beautifully decorated, comfy beds and really quirky. The hotel food was delicious and all the staff lovely. However, thereβs literally no parking, which isnβt advertised, so that cost us over Β£32 for one night. The boiler had clicked off at one point so we couldnβt even shower, and there was a god awful smell coming from the drains that meant the bathroom was off limits! We told the staff when we were checking out who didnβt seem particularly bothered either. Such a shame.

I read all the reviews. I arranged my own parking from just park parking app so this cut that element of stress. Now onto the hotel. What a lovely hotel. Staff were friendly and the surroundings are authentic. We did a murder mystery night and was great fun. Food was lovely and I 100% return. If you have the opportunity book this hotel.

The hotel itself in the lobby was beautiful. The room we stayed in was the suite, it was outdated and looked a little run down. There was clearly a radiator leak which had damaged the wood draws. The rooms had all the facilities. The room took a long time for water to heat resulting in lots of wasted water. There was a sign which highlighted this. When checking out the car valet took a long time, which led us to leave much later than anticipated. Breakfast was delicious, the best thing about the hotel by far. The location was perfect! I would stay here again, but for the price of the Hilton I would expect better.
