Amazing experience, about 10 minuite drive from the York town centre. The room cleanliness was up to a high standard, spacious room. The pool, hot tub and spa facilities included in the price of the room. Complimentary towels given when entering the pool area. The hot tub was at a great temperature and very relaxing. Would not reccomend the hotel more :)

Attended mid December, so expected to pay a little extra with Xmas around the corner. However, paying nearly £400 for a 2 night stay, I would have expected a little more from the room in the way of basics. Firstly, the bathroom door handle was hanging off, I went to reception and reported it. This was rectified swiftly. Secondly, I was shocked to find no tea/ coffee facilities in the room. Especially when you consider premier inn, a budget hotel provide the basics and I love to have a morning coffee in bed. Thirdly, the showerhead was not the greatest. Trying to mimic a drench shower, but it wasn't great. Forthly, the overall finish of the room was not great, the mirror in the bathroom show serious signs of either old age or ware. The silicone seal around the bathroom was coming loose and needs replacing. Plus side: The staff were brilliant and very professional, this is from the front of house staff to the room cleaners. They did a great job. Sadly, it will be very unlikely for me to frequent this venue in the future.

Our first room and wallpaper peeling off the walls in 2 places. When we showed reception they were very apologetic and moved us to an upgraded room. This room was much nicer. Breakfast was average with a nice view. Location is great, it took us 30mins to walk into the centre

An unwelcoming start with one of the reception staff chastising me for getting grumpy with them taking 20+ minutes to be able to check us in ... not including queuing. They may have been a trainee but nothing to say they were, no communication as to what was happening, and no support from the supervisor. Rooms and facilities very clean and comfortable. The pool area was nice for lounging but the pool is very small. You can just about get 8 strokes front crawl in the pool and 3 people swimming at a time. The locker token system is also weird. You get handed a token on a keyring but no instruction you need to take it off (looked like an electronic fob). I didn't as looked too small for the locker and didn't want to jam it up, so went without locker. However, the crowning disappointment was breakfast. Although a splendid looking feast, and good value for £14 I would say, this is only if you can eat it. The hotel has diligently labelled all the allergens but has made no effort to minimise them. With a soy intolerance I was only able to have some of the cooked breakfast, cereals, and the small continental cheese/ham. Breads and pastries were right out. All of them. Even the supermarket cheap in-store "bakery" goods are fine for Soya now so not beyond the wit of the hotel buyers to source something they can serve to more of their guests.

The room was large, very dated dark furniture, no mini fridge, looked like it had been removed, broken door closer adjustable. Dirty and green windows on the outside, bed was hard, tall lamp Didn’t work! Overall the room could do with a refurb. The check in was fine, the bar and restaurant was comfortable with a nice conservatory, the staff at the bar are very friendly. Overall the rooms let this hotel down as it could be so much better.

We were going to a family funeral so chose this as nearest. We had stayed here before years ago but owners have changed. Some updating in rooms and corridors needed. Restaurant and bar lovely. Staff were helpful. We also saw glasses and empty bottles outside of rooms so not great as well.

I attended the Marriott for 4 days in Feb 2023 for a training course. I'm vegan and the kitchen staff went above and beyond throughout the entire course, they prepared separate labelled vegan snacks at break times, the chef would come out during the buffet lunch and talk me through the food to explain what was / wasn't vegan, and even prepared one off vegan lunches and desserts. All the food was of a high quality & the service was excellent

The hotel was clean and staff were lovely. Had a nice small swimming area with sauna and hot tub which was fairly quiet. I did encounter a couple of overnight problems which were dealt with to the highest standard possible. Would highly recommend. Also had room service and breakfast both of which were first class.

We stayed for five nights. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room we were given was an upgrade on what we actually booked with a fantastic view, which was nice. I had my birthday here and it was lovely. I had many many hot baths, which was just wonderful for me. The bed was comfortable, and the pillows were extra long, which was nice. The restaurant downstairs was nice, a small menu but very delicious food. The gym was compact, but it had most things you would need for a good workout. There was a pool and jacuzzi too which was lovely, we also had a swim which was nice, the water was warm. Free towels and robes, too! The only downside to this wonderful stay was the cleaning, we had hula hoops under one of the bedside tables when we checked in, and no one vacuumed the entire stay, which was a shame. There were also cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling, so perhaps a deep clean of 168 is required.

Lovely race track view from the suite. Well above average gym and pool. Great for families. Fast reliable internet (you still can't take that for granted). Liked how easy it was to connect our own entertainment via HDMI. I really appreciated how Margo and Tom made the stay special for my parents.
