This is not a 5 star hotel but for the price I honestly don’t think you can beat the service of the staff (they were incredibly accommodating, engaging, and strived to make the time efficient and enjoyable). The food was adequate for dinner and breakfast was more then we were anticipating. Again, it isn’t the ritz, but we just kept commenting to each other, dang, this place is clean, organized and more than we would expect for the price. Well done!

Not your typical Hilton hotel. We got to our room and it was absolutely freezing. The heating wasn't working. Radiator in bathroom didn't work aswell as the heater towel rail didn't work. Room also smelt extremely feisty. Breakfast was extremely disappointing. Manager admitted that the building "is falling to bits". Apart from the manager the other staff behind reception were useless and didn't really care about anyone's complaints. No compassion. Many people were complaining about heating and no hot water. (We did have hot water) Please do yourself a favour and DO NOT STAY here!

So disappointing! We feel totally taken advantage of after paying a small fortune to stay here. As others have said, whilst the lobby is lovely, some of the rooms are located in an out-building which resembles a HMO or old B&B and unfortunately this is where we stayed. There's a steep staircase as soon as you go in, door handles were hanging loose and not closing properly. Creaky floorboards and very tired decor. Large, cold bathroom with cheap wood effect flooring and old-fashioned accessories. The room itself was very cold and the heating was clearly not working as two small storage heaters were provided - which says it all. Bathroom door did not lock and toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall. Carpet not hoovered properly. The bed itself was comfortable and breakfast was decent. All the staff we encountered were also lovely. But this is a really sorry state of a hotel and we feel obliged to warn others away unless you don't mind being totally ripped off. The standard of this accommodation does NOT meet my expectations of a Hilton at all.

We came here for a romantic weekend away, we arrived early, parked and went into town for a look around to come back later. As we couldn't book in until 4pm. The reception area is lovely, warm and welcoming. When we returned, we booked in and were taken to our room, we were taken outside, down the pavement and into another building, which was, we thought a bit odd. It was a building with three rooms downstairs and three rooms upstairs, the room was small simple and functional, the bed comfortable and the decoration, underwhelming. After we had unpacked we decided to have a nap before dinner. After a few minutes all we could hear was creaking floorboards from the room above! We had hoped that it was a cleaner or something and wouldn't have it later on but no, twas not to be. Between the laughing, joking and chatter in corridor, the traffic from being right on the main road at ground floor level and the creaking floorboards from above, we did not have much sleep. All in all a far worse experience than the price charged from a reputable hotel chain would imagine. Thankfully the beautiful city of York itself made up for any lack on the part of the hotel. P.s. breakfast could have been wetherspoons and I wouldn't have noticed the difference, not a compliment. Suffice to say we shall not be staying here anytime soon.

Located close to the minster and main shops. Very limited onsite parking (expensive). Free parking approximately 20 mins walk away. The rooms are a tad tired with toilets just flushing, showers weak and areas of decorating needed. The reception staff were asked 3 times to sort out a non flushing toilet for one of our party. It was sorted the day after. The food is very good and breakfast is great. Really good service in the kitchen and bar area. Great quality hand washing soap and shampoo in toilets and bathrooms. The hotel is clean with all bed linen fresh. Our super king bed was comfy if a tad hard. I'd stay here again but it seems at a crossroads with significant decorating on the horizon. Broadband was poor with 5meg only in our room (easy fix with much faster speeds thede days)..

The front of house staff were extremely helpful. I think the lady who checked us in was called Jane & she up graded us to a deluxe room which was lovely. It took the room a long time to warm up once we put the heater on but it was really cold outside. Also there was a party on with music until 12pm but they had warned us & there were signs everywhere letting people know ! Breakfast was lovely with a good variety of foods & cereal. Would definitely go back if we stay in York again.

Great room, comfortable and good view, clean however radiator was not working correctly so fortunately it wasn’t cold. Breakfast superb, couldn’t fault in any way, staff attentive and friendly, a credit to the company as were the desk staff. Highly recommend this hotel, a lovely place to stay and close to everything you would want to visit in York city centre

We loved our stay at the Doubletree York. We would stay here again! The staff was fantastic. We were greeted upon arrival, given 2 warm cookies and bottles of water. As a diamond member, I received an upgraded room in the older part of the hotel. The room was huge with a separate living area and really clean. The carpet and couch cushions definitely need a refresh (which is why it gets 4 stars), but everything else was great. The bathroom towels are soft and fluffy and the water shower water pressure is strong. Breakfast choices are plentiful. There is no better location to explore the city- just steps away from York Minster and the city walls. A great stay!

The room was comfortable but quite dark, even with all of the lights turned on. If you are on the road side you will hear traffic noise (day and night) and its a fairly busy road, by traffic lights, so if you're a light sleeper bring some ear plugs! On the non road side it's better, but you can hear the rooms next to you, and the corridors are pretty noisy too if people chat or let their doors slam. The staff are really friendly at check in and you get a warm welcome cookie (as long as nuts and gluten are OK for you). Check out is usually pretty smooth too as there are three desks. Breakfast is good, but can be busy depending on when you go, so try to time it well! There's a good selection and again, the staff are friendly. I stayed for a business trip and it was fine. It's pretty central, in easy reach of restaurants and the city centre.
