Very good hotel. Clean and comfortable. Room was nice and warm. No noise issues. Great central location. We could see Dick Turpins grave from our hotel window!

Stayed here for a couple of days with my partner, the location of the hotel is absolutely perfect for getting into the city, and good amenities within 5 minutes of the hotel. The service we received on the front desk was nothing but exceptional, friendly, informative and service with a smile! However, the room left a lot to be desired, the bed was extremely uncomfortable along with the pillows, we came into our bathroom to find a yellow substance on the sink bowl which was slightly off putting, but putting negatives aside, the fact that shampoo, conditioner and shower gel was provided was fantastic and an unexpected addition! Overall a good hotel with great staff but the rooms could do with a little update!

Me and my wife stayed here for 2 nights at the weekend. Good points.... : Great location close to the main shops and the Shambles : The room was clean and just what we needed. Bad points..... : Despite having an early check in confirmation we was told on arrival that it was subject to availability. So after driving 2.5 hours we had to wait to check in. : Breakfast was chaos. ( I understand it was the weekend and the school holidays) 1 poor girl doing front of house, collecting plates and bringing food out to the buffet area. No cups on both mornings so I have to use plastic ones for a coffee. I didn't have a problem with the food I thought it was a good breakfast. : The window in the bedroom didn't seem safe and would violently shut itself during the night. Receptionist didn't seem to understand what I was trying to explain to him. : There is no parking on site, the closest we found was the Barbican around the corner which was £42 for 48 hours. Again, I'm going to put it down to the time of the stay. It was a weekend and the school holidays.

Excellent cleanliness, lovely room was spacious, bathroom excellent. Room service very good and reception really good. But could be better, pillows and bed very uncomfortable, sorry none of us slept very well :( breakfast had an excellent range, but a couple of niggles... bacon was as hard as cardboard... weird! And the pancake machine doesn't cook the pancakes enough... squidgy goo inside them. So for those reasons we scored the hotel a 3. But thank you, we know you try.

3.5/5 We stayed at the Holiday in York for a short break. The hotel's location is excellent and was the main reason we chose it. It's very convenient for exploring the city. However, the hotel itself is showing its age and feels a bit dated. The general maintenance could be better. One specific issue we faced was with the shower; the hot water was inconsistent during peak times, which was frustrating. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and helpful, which improved our experience. In summary, it's a hotel with a great location and good service, but the facilities need some attention.

The hotel is excellent value for money. The location is perfect because it is within walking distance to most places you’d visit in York, but at the same time, far enough to have silence at night. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly too.

Just returned from a 3 night trip to Holiday Inn York. Every member of staff friendly and helpful from check in until check out. Room spotless. One of the best Breakfasts we’ve had. Lots of choice, quality produce and buffet replenished regularly. Breakfast staff were so friendly and attentive and ensured plates etc were cleared promptly. Highly recommend this hotel and wouldn’t stay anywhere else when we return to York. Holiday inn, Your employees are a credit to you.

In general an ok hotel. Spartan and functional. Only one (1) elevator here so it sometimes causes short delay. Room was comfortable but showed areas that required deeper cleaning. Breakfasts were good. Service was really good. I can't comment on value for money since it was paid for through the tour. I would not be adverse to staying here again.

The staff absolutely make this hotel! We stayed 22-24th august and every staff member we encountered were fabulous. The room was obviously cleaned to a very high standard (thank you Georgia) We had our 5 year old with us and all the staff were great with her. Will be staying here next time we are in York. Well done everyone involved

Great location, clean, great breakfast but wonderful staff, especially at reception. Special shout out to Tia and Nikki. Both were amazing. So kind, helpful and friendly, exactly what every hotel reception should have. Sets the tone for the rest of your trip. Whilst I've mentioned by Tia and Nikki, the rest of the staff were also great too! Only negative was that the beds, especially the sofa bed were a bit too soft and worn out for my liking. Bearable for our one night stay, but much longer and it might have meant it'd be a few nights of disrupted sleep! Would stay again though!
