I recently stayed at the New Country Inns - Selby, and while my experience was generally pleasant, there were a few aspects that left room for improvement. The stay itself was nice, and the staff were friendly and welcoming (aside from the occasional use of informal "annoyingly fake" phrases like “Darling” or “My Love” typical for a lot of British senior "Ladies", which may feel slightly out of place in an otherwise professional work environment). However, the room quality was average, primarily due to the condition of the bathroom. The shower tap handle was very loose and would fall off during use, which was inconvenient. It was evident that the bathroom is in need of significant repairs, which I’ve documented with photos. Addressing these issues would greatly enhance the overall guest experience. As for the breakfast, I found it to be quite underwhelming. The selection was very limited unless you specifically request items from the menu, which isn't ideal for guests expecting a good variety from a standard breakfast buffet. Improving the breakfast offering would make a notable difference for guests. Overall, while the stay was comfortable and the service was pleasant, attention to detail in the bathroom maintenance and breakfast options is needed for a better experience. I hope these points will be considered, as this property has great potential.

So sorry to say our visit this time was way below what we are used to. We only had a "continental" breakfast but this was no more than fruit, toast and yogurt. No pastries or croissants that we've had on previous visits. We booked breakfast at book in but their system never registered us with the breakfast team. We had to ask for top ups for hot water and milk. Coffee was not pleasant. It used to be filter coffee but this time we were served granules. On the second morning we ran out of milk, literally! A member of staff had to go to the supermarket to get some. On a plus note, the full english did look pretty good but i can't comment on taste as we didn't have it. We did find out as we were leaving that they were in the middle of a management reshuffle so this may just be a minor glitch and things will rapidly improve. We do like it here as it is well placed for the designer outlet and park and ride access to York. We are also within easy reach of the Yorkshire coast and just down the road from Leeds and Doncaster.

Good parking. Nice restaurant. Location: 2km outside of selby. We went there spontaneously and got the last room for the night. The room was not nice. It seemed it could use a little more cleaning. Bathroom was bad. Also seemed like it could use more cleaning, toilet paper holder broke at the slightest touch. Soap dispenser seemed dirty. Wood panels under sink also loose. All in all for what we have paid we were not happy.

We went for a Sunday dinner. Looked OK. But disappointing as the meal was cold asked for it to be reheated and came back no better. We felt it was a waste of money and won't be going back.

It's OK, for having a drink but if you fancy a cavery with the drink then don't It's all frozen vegetables and meat was not cooked.

Always clean and tidy. The food is what you pay for and you get plenty of it. Could do with being warmer at times. There used to be an unpleasant smell in the ladies restroom but has now been rectified. The staff are always friendly and it's nice to see them in a uniform. This is a popular place for families bit also has a child free section.
