My hair was left severely heat damaged after visiting this salon. Do not recommend to anyone with Afro / type 4 hair. No heat protectant used and was pressured into straightening. Please educate yourselves on how to care for our hair before offering services.

I had an absolutely amazing experience! Stella truly understands hair and gives the best, most honest advice. I had the Texture Release treatment done, and I’m very happy with the results—it turned out even better than I expected. She explains everything step by step and recommends the right products for my hair. highly recommend!!

Had a great haircut from one staff member (First barber), with an extremely disappointing experience from another. During my haircut, another young man customer (probably 20 and a bit nervous) came in to see if he could get his sides done in 10mins as he was in a rush (he mentioned he was on holiday with his family). The second barber, without checking with the first barber, said yes it could be done quickly and had him pay on the spot £40. After about 20 or so mins of waiting (she estimated a 5min wait) he had to go and asked for a refund, where she said to call some number which would take 3 days to get his refund. He then asked if he could be seen that day later on if that was the case, she checked with the other barber who said he was fully booked so actually there was no time for them to do his haircut that day, yet she had still charged him £40 for what was going to be a 10min haircut. She had him waiting for a haircut that was never going to happen and told him “5 more mins” twice which clearly was not true. He walked out, then came back 5mins later clearly flustered about the money and asked for a refund on the spot. Barber 2 then said it couldn’t be done, wasn’t her problem, and lied and said that he hadn’t said he was in a rush. At that point I intervened as a witness and said that he actually had mentioned he was in a rush multiple times and she shouldn’t have taken his money when they clearly could never provide the service. She then raised her voice at me, told me that it was MY fault as my haircut was going overtime (it hadn’t and this isn’t in my control given I’m not cutting my own hair?) and proceeded to then talk over me any time I tried to explain that I was speaking as a witness to the interaction. I witnessed her awful treatment of this young man who had been polite from the start and was nervous to get a quick cut while he had a moment and was now in an unpleasant situation. Three separate times she loudly said to no one in particular that two “men” (using a tone with a lot of contempt) were blaming her for something that was apparently our fault, and she ignored me when I asked why she couldn’t just give him cash. I asked her why she keeps bringing up my gender to which she rolled her eyes and then referred to me as a “customer who needs to mind his own business” in an equally contemptuous manner. Before I spoke up as a witness she had been trying to lie to this young man and not pay him back as she knew he was in a rush and on holiday so she just wanted him gone to ignore him and not give him the money. Incredibly unprofessional and very sexist from her to raise her voice and refer to our genders which had nothing to do with anything when she was in the wrong. Barber 1 apologised to me quietly and didn’t intervene as it was clear that she wasn’t going to take any accountability or help right her easily-avoidable mistake. I’ve only written this review because I repeated the story to my flatmate (a woman) who said she had similar interactions with her where she promised a “10min wait” for a booked appointment that turned into a 1hr+ wait during her lunch hour where she again lied through her teeth - clearly a pattern. I will not be going back and would urge Barber 2 to consider some accountability and review the way she treats and speaks to customers after making an error on her part. Sexism and such hostility made for a terrible experience that I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Had the best first experience at Chop Chop old st. Stella really listened and understood exactly the style I was looking for and is super skilled cutting the hair in a way that works for your unique hair type. I have never been to a hairdresser that gets my hair, but Stella really did! I’m so so happy with the result and will definitely be back again. Apart from being excellent at cutting hair, Stella was lovely and funny, making me feel so comfortable and enjoy every minute. Thanks!!

I’ve just returned from a haircut with Emma and the overall service was good. She was able to accommodate for a last minute add-on (scalp detox), styled my curls carefully and well, there were no surprise costs and the service itself didn’t take longer than necessary. The haircut I received was objectively good but I had to compromise a lot on my requests based on what the stylist was comfortable with. For context, I have thin, fine hair that’s moderately curly and I booked a “curly trim, wash and style”. I asked to get the color at the ends of my hair trimmed off, long, rounded layers, face framing and a soft fringe in the front. However, I feel Emma played it too safe with my requests and ended up leaving my hair longer than I wanted. Additionally, she didn’t manage to accomplish the cascading layers and rounded shape I had shown her a picture of. The most disappointing part was that there was no dry trim at any point in the haircut - not prior to the wash or after styling it. The haircut wasn’t customized to my curl type and the stylist really overestimated my shrinkage. I didn’t feel able to ask for these adjustments in the moment especially because I was unsure of Emma’s experience with cutting curly hair. I didn’t leave the salon feeling or looking any different than I had when I walked in so I’m quite dissatisfied with the haircut (even though the service itself was good). I’m unsure if I’ll return. On one hand, I know I won’t leave with a bad haircut (I got a haircut here last year and it was decent) and the price is on the lower side in comparison to other salons. On the other hand, it’s unlikely I’ll leave with a haircut that considers all my requests and is customized to my curl pattern.

Such a great team at Chop Chop, fab hairdressers (dealing with with my long thick hair and the fab cut and blow dry) but also great humans...my phone was stolen just minutes before I had arrived and the team were really helpful (giving me their phones, access to their salon WiFi etc). Kindness goes a long way! Love the sustainable ethos in the salon too. Look forward to my next visit :)

Had my hair cut by Benjamin today and it’s the most perfect cut I’ve ever had! Looks very healthy but still has good length, my fringe is exactly how I wanted it and he recommended a scalp treatment to help with the dermatitis I get. I love that the salon is gender neutral and charges the same price for all hair textures too. Will definitely be back in a few months!

One of the best hair experience ever had so far in London! The salon and the staff are really welcoming, and the service was quick but really effective. Matteo was great, he made me feel at ease and gave me all the tips necessary to control and manage my hair as I really don't know what to do with it. The haircut was fantastic and the product suggested is really helping me a lot (I don't usually buy any). Five stars for this amazing salon, definetly come back for another trim.

I've been to Chop Chop twice and both times I've loved my wash and cut, such an efficient service, in and out within an hour. Most recently I had Matteo as a stylist and I'd 100% recommend, he was so lovely to chat to and a great hairdresser. I showed him a video of my previous haircut I'd had with a different stylist and he understood exactly what I wanted, at each stage talked me through what he was doing, and gave me a choice with his recommendation. I absolutely love the finished result! And it was a very reasonable price for London.

I haven't had a cut for several months and my hair was a bit damaged but Filippa did an amazing job, only cut the split ends and refreshed the style in general. I feel so much better and ready to grow my hair longer again. The salon is stylish, clean and modern and we had a great chat. I'm definitely coming back and I can recommend it to everyone. :)
