Went to asda penny lane for shopping. By the till, staffs are too busy to talking each other.

Great supermarket and the staff are great. However the pedestrian access is dangerous and poorly maintained by Asda. For example, the pedestrian barriers are broken allowing electric bikes able to travel at speed, the footpath is uneven so is a significant trip hazard and the boundary wall is collapsing due to buddlea plans and a lack of maintenance. Therefore, there is a high potential for people to be injured using this pedestrian access particularly at night as the lights do not work!

I've been to this store several times, and it's pretty decent for a small branch. It's got quite a good layout with a decent range of products at good prices. It's also good for getting a bargain or two in the 'reduced' sections. The main issue is that obviously with it being a small store, there's far less choice than with a bigger branch, no clothing, and there's no customer toilets either. Also, I was there with my dad one Sunday, and one of the staff was very rude to us both, ironically wearing one of the 'happy to help' jackets, which she quite clearly was not. This put my dad off using the shop, and embarrassed him at the time too. I would recommend this shop if you're in the area.

Staff not helpful, everything seems an effort for them. Male collegue was rude and dismissive when asked for help. Girl was huffing and puffing when asked to show me where an item was. On another occasion the same male collegue was most unhelpful and acted like he couldnt be bothered when i asked if an item was in stock. He actually muttered un his breath, which i found very rude. Only that it is convinient, i would not shop there..

So disappointed with the lack of service here today around 12.40 Thursday 11th July. 3 staff doing nothing but chatting whilst I struggled to unload all of my shopping on to a small self serve checkout my shopping was falling off by the minutes which they will have noticed surely. No offers to help me or open a proper checkout. I have arthritis and struggled to retrieve the shopping off the floor. The store itself had everything I wanted apart from decent staff. I'd never return here.

Got most things. Not a superstore like clothing etc, but great choice for food and small household stuff

Great Asda with lots of nice fresh produce and very friendly helpful team in store. The check out front of store team are always super helpful and super efficient. The only downside to this store for people like myself who walk to the shops is the alleyway from Smithdown Road to the store. It’s always covered in litter and dogs mess ! It’s looks disgusting before you even start shopping and in the winter it’s super slippery as never gritted. The other stores say it’s Asdas responsibility so it needs attention but all the stores here should take more pride in this centre.
