Very quiet spot. Perfectly clean toilet/shower block. There is a shelter open to all with a table, kitchen sinks and a fridge, which is great for cooking, eating and socialising, especially in poor weather.

Wonderful campsite, clean and well situated, there were a group of DofE kids that were all crammed into the toilet facilities which made it very difficult to shower or use the bathroom but luckily they were only there for one night and were well behaved, I can see from a lot of reviews the campsite is often over run by large groups of school kids and DofE kids with no notice from the campsite which is a massive shame, I would like to come back here but I would definitely be emailing to find out what groups were booked first as they have the ability to completely ruin your stay. The staff we did see were friendly and helpful and it has everything you could want apart from no campfire allowed :(

Great location. You can walk to Stanage edge from the campsite. The pods are a great choice. They are very spacious and insulated. They have a small heater, and 2 outlets for charging phones ect. We stayed in the Stanage pod, it was close to the car park and the toilets/showers and community space was just across the field. Everyone staying there was considerate, even the DofE group that stayed the first night, and there was little noise after 10. The site is well managed and the staff were really friendly and happy to help. I would definitely recommend if you are looking to stay in the area

A Tale of Two Cities (Oxford and Bedford). We booked for two nights midweek thinking it would be quieter. However, around 5pm on the first night the camp was inundated with around 60 young people all on their DofE Gold. Great to see and good for them, but they absolutely took over the field with about 30 two-man tents arranged in a horseshoe. That said, they were polite and well-behaved, observing the 10pm noise curfew. Their teachers and DofE guides camped in the same area, and regularly looked in on the students. This was a secondary school from Oxford. The Oxford school left by 8am the next day and the field looked like it had when we arrived. However, around 4pm we saw two more minibuses arrive, this time from a school in Bedford. A different kettle of fish. Again they camped right across the middle of the main field, but were sadly less societal than their next-but-one-county neighbours. Teachers were largely absent, camping in a separate field. The 10pm noise curfew was therefore unpoliced, and the noise, football, rugby, music etc. continued until at least 11pm. Why do I say all this ? Not because I don't applaud youngsters embracing camping, not because I haven't been there myself, not because I begrudge youthful exuberance. No, because I would have expected the campsite to advise and maybe forewarn families and couples that these two groups were incoming. Clearly these group bookings were made some time ago, and so an advisory email or even a quick word from the onsite warden wouldn't have gone amiss when we checked in. All that said, the campsite was fine. Lovely location and probably otherwise quiet and peaceful. Couple of clean showers, couple of outdoor sheltered washing-up sinks, bit rocky and slopy in places, but was OK. The hand dryers in the toilets though could likely be heard from Dronfield. In hindsight, we should have chosen the top field as far as possible from the toilets and the Germans who decided to wash, rinse and generally clatter their pots and pans around at 11pm.

Location is stunning surrounded by woodlands. Facilities are excellent staff friendly. The site is made up of 4 fields. I pitch up in the field nearest to the facilties and near to my car as you can't park at the side of your pitch. Wheel barrows are available for transporting your equipment. The fields are sloped, but it's not a problem to find a good pitch. Few Pod if you fancy an upgrade look really nice. The campsite takes DofE groups always good to see. Daybreak brings the birds in full song much better than an alarm clock. Very relaxing stay enjoyed my 2 night stay.

A great little campsite, just up the road from Hathersage and a short walk up to Stanage Edge. The shower and toilet block are basic, but fine, and the pitching areas are on a slight hill, so drainage is not too bad.

I love camping here. Absolutely the best place around. Only issue is the newly renovated bathrooms: they're bad. The old ones were great, didn't need changing. There were shelves to put your stuff on, hooks to hang things on, and a rustic, natural brick look to it all. The new ones, all white plastic, no shelves, no hooks (bar one on the back of the door), and no function. The shower curtain is hung so close that the warm air from the shower pulls out inwards so it's constantly sticking to you. The floor floods if you don't have that curtain fixed across the entire space (which most don't it seems, as you always walk into a flooded bathroom). The sealant round the shower tray is already peeling away, so they must have been pretty poor the people who did the work. Would have been better to have left it well alone. But I'm not going to let all that spoil what is always a wonderful camping experience. Staff are friendly and super helpful. Place is always quiet with respectful campers (but I avoid weekends so don't know what they're like). Go stay, you won't regret it

North lees is beautiful, tranquil and a home from home for me. But. What have they done to the facilities. Go for the site alone it's worth it, this is a note to national parks UK (if they ever read reviews). The phrase don't fix what isn't broken comes to mind. Since the refurb to the facilities they have essentially broken them. Flooding showers, no shelves or hooks. It's lost all character and is reminiscent to motorway service station toilets. The most insane thing is there are no cold taps so when you brush your teeth you have to use the hot tap. Blehh. It must have been designed by a small child as the outcome is amateur at best. Sort it out national parks UK. The money should have gone into path restoration or something...

Fantastic site in a wonderful location. Friendly staff upon arrival. Hidden in the forest setting along some very narrow roads so access and parking was a little difficult but to be expected. Male toilets were a bit smelly and the shower floors were dirty after fellow guests didn't clean up after themselves... Free roaming sheep may come and say hello and are very bold!

The site is small, but cosy. The ground isn’t always even, but if you look for the right spots it can be great! They have running water, toilets and a shower. It’s surrounded by beautiful scenery and lots of birds, as well as the occasional frog. What more can you ask for?
