Quirky, very old with some original beams. Fantastic bedrooms, big kitchen, pool and spa areas. Lovely garden, plus the most fabulous BBQ lodge and sauna!!
We were welcomed to Hagg Hill by some beautiful horses that live in the fields either side of the driveway to the hall. A lovely start to our weekend. The house itself is so big and was a great size for our group of 21. The house is full of history, quirky antiques and even a spirit or two... we encounters some additional visitors on our stay! The pool is a good size and is lovely and warm, the jacuzzis are great to relax in, the sauna is fantastic and simple to operate, and the BBQ hut was awesome - you can still cook, even if the great British weather isn't on your side! The location is lovely, so quiet and rural, but close enough to shops etc if you need to pop out for something. We had a great weekend for a big birthday celebration.
I went here on a hen weekend in March, booked through a company called Adventure Connections. Originally, there were 22 of us, and then that dropped to 18. Myself and the other bridesmaid hadn't seen the property until the day of the hen do, so we're nervous because of the quirkiness isn't to everyone's taste but we were pleasantly surprised by how cute it was. The entertainment room, just by the pool area, had disco lights and a speaker system you could connect to via Bluetooth, There was a sauna in the garden and a cute BBQ hut, also with lights. Everything was adorable. The beds might be a tad smaller than people are used to (we all shared the doubles), but they were so comfortable. Once you were in, you were asleep. The local Tesco & Aldi were only a short 10 minute drive away, as was Chesterfield train station. Would definitely stay again.
Went for friends 50th.. 23 girls it was FANTASTIC!! SO Many facilities.. pool and jacuzzis brilliant. Loved the building old and quirky.. the dining room was fabulous for big dinner party. Can't believe what you get for your money. We've booked to go again already!
22 of us stayed here for a week, including several children from 18 months to 17. There was something for everyone! The pool, air hockey table, hot tubs and sauna proved the most popular. There is also ample green space at the back of the garden, including a sandpit, for the older kids to kick a ball about. Mel was very accomodating and would come by each day to make sure everything was okay. On one night, he even offered us adults the use of a lovely veranda in his garden and a few glasses of his gin collection! We are booking up again for 2025 as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Highly recommend for large groups of family or friends.
Eccentric but brilliant
Absolutely loved our stay in Haggs Hill Hall! We went with 17 of us for a big family event and loved every second of it. There is loads of stuff to do in the house to entertain the kids, air hockey table, small pool table, giant chess, football table, a boat in the garden, large field to play games in (would recommend bringing your own set of balls, rackets etc. as a lot of the sets were incomplete) and a sand pit! Plenty of stuff for the adults to do too with two hot tubs, a pool, sauna and BBQ hut. Dog friendly and the owner Mel is so lovely, friendly and helpful. Pool was being fixed up so was not in use for us but looks like it'll be amazing when back in working condition! Plenty of space for lots of people with plenty of bathrooms and living space. The history of the place is amazing and genuinely feels like you've gone back in time. Would absolutely recommend ☺️
An absolutely fantastic place for a hen party or big family get together. The rooms were quaint but immaculate. The pool room and hot tubs were to die for and the kitchen...I wish it was mine. All covid rules followed re: sanitising the house prior to our arrival and we stripped the beds to put into bags so cleaner doesn't touch them. A definite go again place.
