“Just had 5 days on Robin Hood with family travelling from West Stockwith to Clayworth. Stunning scenery, lovely people along the way on and off the canal. Great, patient instruction from Mark and Sharon who couldn't do enough to give you the confidence to set off on your own. Lovely well equipped boat, plenty of everything needed. Few pubs/eateries along the way. Can't recommend highly enough if you want a relaxing holiday away from it all. Thank you Mark and Sharon.”

“Went for friends 50th.. 23 girls it was FANTASTIC!! SO Many facilities.. pool and jacuzzis brilliant. Loved the building old and quirky.. the dining room was fabulous for big dinner party. Can't believe what you get for your money. We've booked to go again already!”

“I would highly recommend staying here. Graham and Hilary were very welcoming providing suggestions for places to eat before we arrived. There was a large choice for breakfast which was preordered. The bedroom had drinks and biscuits available and there was a downstairs sitting room for guests. It was very quiet and we had an excellent nights sleep. Thank you so much Graham and Hilary for a wonderful stay.”

“We loved our stay here! The lady Laura was fantastic as we arrived slightly late as the walk we were on took longer than anticipated, when we rang she told us not to panic and she'd let us in still, and to travel safely which was lovely. The pod was very clean and tidy on arrival, mugs and hot drinks on a little table. The bed was very comfy and there was heating in the pod which made it warm and cosy. I just wished we could have stayed longer here! We will be back!!!”

“We have just returned home from a lovely 2 night stay at Slate House Farm. We loved it. It’s well situated with plenty of pubs and restaurants locally. The pods are clean and have everything you need. A nice touch was the addition of marshmallows so we could toast them in the fire pit. The views are amazing and the owners couldn’t do enough whilst still not being intrusive. We will definitely be coming back”

“Stayed last week for the second time. The first being 2 years ago. Really lovely, very clean and well kept. Nice touches like champagne and chocolates on arrival as well as tea coffee and a lot of kitchen condiments. The spa was an amazing addition too. The house is well away from the road and very quiet.”

“We had a fabulous overnight stay at the Pebley Inn. It has a lovely deck outside overlooking the countryside, luckily we had a lovely autumn night to make the most of it. We were greeted at check in by the lovely Olivia, it was such a warm friendly welcome and she continued to look after us all night. We stay in a lot of pubs on our travels and don't normally get such amazing service. Food delicious. Beers kept well. Warm atmosphere in the pub. Room well equipped. The whole night was excellent.”

“Enjoyed the roast dinner sitting outside in the sunshine one late April Sunday. Great pint of Landlord, too. Themed nights including Caribbean. Nice pub with contemporary decor that has kept some traditional features inside, with the added outside area having been created to a great standard. Bikes zooming past along Chesterfield Road a bit annoying but the food distracted from that. Choice of beef, chicken or gammon, large freshly made yorkies, cauliflower cheese, a massive boat of gravy and accompanying veg. Good portion.. although it needed to be at £16! I would mention more about the high price of a Sunday lunch here, was it not for the fact that it was blooming delicious!! Grandma's Bread and butter pudding to finish (bloody lovely Grandma) and a couple of pints of Rutland ale. Great pub and well positioned for local walks before or after to Ashover and beyond. Great food, Good beer selection, well placed to explore the area and make a day of it.”

“Everything that you need for afew days staying at the Acorn Guest House. Including a silent fridge. Breakfast very well presented and generously portions all included in the pritce. Much better than the hotels”

“We stayed for two nights mid April. The room (Chatsworth room) was lovely, a large room with everything you needed. Bed very comfortable , very clean. The bathroom was excellent, a large shower unit. With a continental breakfast available in the price, and tea ,coffee facilities available 2hrs a day. The hotel is ideally situated for a walk to the town centre, only 2 minutes away. On site parking is a bonus. The restaurant is lovely with fantastic food. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend a stay to anyone.”

“My partner and I have just had our wedding ceremony and party at the Bateman's mill, I must say, everything set up absolutely perfectly, we even had a huge hog roast on the spit, the function room set up was planned perfectly with space for the singers and room to shake the tail feather. Great choice of drinks to suit everyone my person favourite being the Boston American gentleman and a good choice of spirits and soft drinks .
