I was honestly not expecting too much but the hotel is so much better than we thought it was going to be! Reception and bar staff were extremely nice and very welcoming. Our family room (4 adults) was big and consisted of two separate bedrooms, one double and one twin room and a decent bathroom. Our rooms were also lovely and warm throughout our stay with enough teabags, milk and coffee. Plenty wardrobe space and chairs etc… Unfortunately we were rudely woken by some loud noise outside at 7am ,possibly a generator? It sounded really loud because we had the window open a tiny bit! Breakfast wasn’t too bad and the room we ate in was very busy. The hotel is in a perfect location for everything and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!

We stayed a few days midweek. Pleasantly surprised considering low cost. We booked a family room for the two of us plus our little dog. Good sized room with a separate lounge with chairs and settees. There was television in both rooms. Nice modern bathroom. Easy access to the room by swipe card. Two public lounges. One of the lounges had a singer on the nights we stayed. Bar prices cheaper than some pubs in the area. Some lovely guests. We only had one meal in the hotel, lunch. This was three courses, help you self. The roast beef melted in your mouth. We ate in the bar as we had our dog with us. I definitely will return considering value for money

Stayed here as part of a package deal to see Simply Red. After reading some reviews I was a little apprehensive. We were pleasantly surprised, the staff can't do enough for you! The two ladies in restaurant need a special mention they never stop and both friendly and attentive. Food was OK and what you expect from 3 stars. Nice buffet selection at dinner and good selection at breakfast. Large, clean bedroom, only criticism was the small double bed. All in all for the price a decent hotel, in a good location.

Was a little apprehensive after reading the reviews. However! What a delightful surprise... I'd booked with a friend and our dogs for one night .. the room was very spacious clean and looked like it had been recently decorated with a huge bathroom. The staff were very polite and helpful . The location of the hotel is perfect within walking distance to all the bars restaurants shops and the beach. Breakfast was a buffet style with lots of hot and cold choices. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a lovely stay !

We went for 3 days between Christmas and New year hotel was lovely and clean. The rooms are a bit dated but the bathrooms have been updated. Staff are very welcoming and friendly and the breakfast and evening meal were delicious, will definitely be back

Usually stay at a major well known brand of hotel at the end of Lord Street, but wanting to stay a little longer than usual, and also wanting to conserve money in these increasingly tough times, I took the advice of a friend and tried it. Yeah it has it's faults, but no deal breakers, and I'd go far as to say I prefer it over the well known chain one that I usually stay at that's double the price. Would I stay again, absolutely, and I plan to very soon.

Hotel looked good from outside with on site parking - although a daily charge. The public areas inside were well presented with some ongoing maintenance. The staff were friendly and very helpful. However as we went up to the room, we noticed that the corridors were in poor condition with peeling and scuffed paint - obviously in need of update. When we entered the room we noticed that it had too much furniture in it which made it feel cluttered and difficult to move around. It was all very old, mismatched and damaged. The bathroom was terrible! The door didn't even close, the sealant around the bath etc looked like a 2 year old had done it years ago with a spoon - as it was lumpy and grimy and the toilet was stabilised with blocks of wood - as were the radiators in the room. My husband had never seen such appalling finishing. The headboard was screwed to the wall with just 2 screws - no attempt to disguise these and the mattress was old, lumpy and we could feel the springs. Even worse, when we turned back the covers after a poor night's sleep, we found the bottom sheet was stained and had still been used, instead of being sent back to the laundry! There were many cobwebs and the room needed a thorough cleaning. The breakfast was very poor indeed with limited choice and poorly cooked, certainly not worth the cost. This was the final straw! We decided to pack and terminate our visit there and then. Altogether thoroughly disappointed with a short break which had been very looked forward to!

The staff were fabulous, the manager mingles amongst the guests very nice chap. Reception staff outstanding. The beds were awful, thin hard mattresses, only 1 pillow each, very thin quilts and cold rooms. Nice old building but a tired place. Breakfast not included but the food was good, no staff in breakfast room, except cleaning up. As it was all you can eat help yourself. But I wouldn't stay again.
