Was meant to be travelling here for two nights this week however had a death in the family so wasn’t able to go. Rang the hotel and a most uninterested staff member answer, I explained the situation and said I didn’t want to cancel more move the days to two weeks away. She said as it’s third party via Expedia I would need to contact them. Spoke to Expedia and they said they would contact the hotel and see what was able to be done. Expedia said they rang the hotel multiple times with no response so there was nothing they could do. Which I find hard to believe. I am aware I booked through a third party however I am also aware that hotels are able to change the dates in their system and just not update Expedia. I understand it was non refundable but I didn’t want a refund I wanted to change the date. So now I am $500+ down the drain a week before Christmas. Really poor service.

This hotel was an absolute NIGHTMARE! Our first room was full of severe black mold, so they moved us — only for the second room to have the exact same problem. Two rooms, both unsafe and moldy — it was shocking and completely unacceptable. We were forced to leave immediately and book another hotel on our own. We had to fight just to get a partial refund, and now, over a month later, we’ve received nothing. Every follow-up has been ignored, and Booking.com confirmed the hotel never sent the refund, so they cannot process it either. Two mold-infested rooms, zero accountability, and a completely empty refund promise. Truly gross and unprofessional. Avoid this place at all costs.

Don't book this hotel if you care about your health. We initially checked into one of the rooms, which had mold over the mirror in the bathroom. After informing the reception about this we were moved to a different room, but there we found mold again - even more than in the previous room. We were offered 1 night compensation if we accepted the moldy room. After demanding a room without mold or a full refund, they offered to refund two nights - because we made the mistake of staying there for 2 already. There were no other rooms available according to reception, so we were forced to move out. Attaching pictures so you can judge for yourself. (First two are from first room, remaining from second).

Fabulous stay at The Abbey. A beautiful Georgian house converted into a welcoming, quaint hotel. Comfortable rooms, friendly staff and excellent location, with Portobello Market and Notting Hill Tube station on the doorstep.

Do not stay at The Abbey. The room conditions are poor and the management is unresponsive. I had previously stayed at The Abbey and enjoyed it, which is why I returned and even recommended it to friends. Unfortunately, this most recent stay was a very disappointing experience. Our group had multiple rooms and encountered serious issues: - My own room had a mattress with broken springs and a large dip, making it extremely uncomfortable to sleep. That mattress should never have been in use in a hotel room. - Another room had plumbing issues with a toilet that would not flush, and we heard other guests raising similar complaints during their stay about the toilets and showers. - One room was disturbed by a staff member at reception who was unwell and coughing throughout the night, making it impossible to sleep. When we mentioned it in the morning, we were told the staff member went home ill. He should not have been at work in the first place. When we raised these concerns with reception, we were told they would be passed to management. However, the management, particularly Aaron Durrant, was dismissive and unhelpful. We received no apology, acknowledgement, or goodwill gesture. The lack of professionalism in handling complaints was deeply disappointing.

Stayed here for three nights and it was a very pleasant experience. Very charming hotel in a wonderful location if you’re a tourist. The bed was a little uncomfortable, but having a nice bathtub made up for it. The TV in my room had horrible audio, but I just used it as background noise. Staff was super friendly!

The first room was near the top floor and was small and hot, so we switched to a larger room on the second floor. The second room was a descent size and warm; it lacked AC. The bathroom was adequate, but could use a deep cleaning. It is in a good location, near various stores, restaurants, parks, theaters and public transportation. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was good,. I would go back if it isn't too hot outside.

Stayed here for 1 night while in London. It's a nice hotel in a nice area. Some of the decor is a bit dated but bed was comfortable, everything worked and it's about 30 seconds from the Tube

This was the perfect hotel for our 9 day visit. It is less than a block from the Notting Hill Gate tube stop. It is within walking distance of a cash machine, several restaurants and groceries and numerous shops. Our charming room was clean and spacious. The continental breakfast offered a variety of options, all fresh and delicious. I would certainly stay again.

Could not have been happier with this hotel. Stayed in May 2013 on vacation. A block from the tube, a couple of blocks from Hyde Park and a few blocks from Portobello Road. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Stayed in a room with a four-post bed, comfortable couch and private bath. Perfect location for a charming boutique hotel. I would highly recommend it for a vacation trip.
