Four of my friends booked an afternoon tea via open table. Received a confirmation email and got to the venue at the time. When we got there the lady at the bar Farhana was extremely rude, said we hadn't mentioned an afternoon tea on our booking despite it being booked on afternoontea.uk and open table. Then said they didn't have time to check for reservations as they were hosting events, and asked us to leave as they were too busy. On the way out, the really nice lady at the front desk asked us what happened (we were happy to leave without a fuss or talking to anyone about it) and then made sure we were seated at the table. We really appreciated that and grateful we were given a table. However! After the tea was served (all of the this looked amazing) the rude woman who was at the bar came back and said "are you happy now? The people that came before you had to wait because you had to be served your tea". EXTREMELY rude. We did nothing wrong, even happy to leave without making a fuss, but this lady's attitude was a stinker. 10/10 to the other people here who cleaned up after her bad people skills. 10/10 for food and drinks. But really bad experience thanks to Farhana.

The most remarkable hotel in London. Eccentric, eclectic, unique and peaceful. A dream hotel for the historically and philosophically apt. Rooms are clean and well taken after, food is fresh and itβs not often you can find a hotel offering Turkish baths, which are a treat after touring the city all day. Only problem is location, being just a little bit out of the way of city central, but even that is fine enough with just a couple short tube rides. Will definitely book again next time Iβm in London.

I was planning a weekend in London and wanted to stay in a nice, not standard and clean hotel and after going through tens of options I found this little jewel! Lovely atmosphere, colorful and cosy lobby with plenty of armchairs and sal tables. My room was inspired by a French philosopher and it was very clean and comfortable. Very kind staff and very very good breakfast with plenty of choices. I hope to stay again!

Perfectly located just a few steps from Limehouse DLR, the hotel offers effortless access to Bank, Canary Wharf and the rest of the city within minutes. The in-house restaurant is exceptional β delicious breakfasts, excellent food choices, and a focus on fresh, healthy, high-quality ingredients that will satisfy even true gourmands. Rooms are cosy, spacious, spotless, and beautifully decorated. Amenities are outstanding: premium shampoos, body washes and moisturisers, plus toothbrush sets, cotton buds, shaving kits, soft towels and comfortable bathrobes. Room safes and excellent ventilation add to the comfort. The hotelβs design is genuinely unique β from the stylish interiors to thoughtful common areas. Donβt miss the first-floor library, the office space on the second floor, and the charming terrace-garden. This is true luxury at an affordable price β a rare find in London. A hidden gem.

This is a wonderful boutique hotel with great staff. Each room is named after, and decorated in the style of a famous person. The room was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were amazing and put up with our late departure from the room each day. The hotel is very conveniently located with bus stops feet from the door. Our daily trips to the tourist attractions were never more than a bus ride away. Would highly recommend without any reservations on our end.

Stayed for my Wife's birthday. Great location. 10/15 minute walk to the river front and canary wharf. Staff were lovely. The room was great, quiet too. The design of the place is eclectic. Well worth a visit.

This hotel was beyond what I could have imagined. It was very clear from the outset that this was a passion project with no expense spared. Every room seemed to have been decorated beautifully and I could tell that love and culture was in every single room. It made me happy being there. Itβs homely and like a museum at the same time. Leo Tolstoyβs room was my personal favourite but the marble Turkish bath, the rooftop terrace, the restaurantβ¦were all decorated to perfection. The place literally brings history back to life. Full of energy and a Happy place in East London. I highly recommend it.

Had a very good stay for 3 nights in this hotel with my wife. Location is good. The area is not uptown London but we felt good there when walking in the area. You are in 5 minutes walk at Limehouse station, that takes you in 5-10 minutes to Bank. The outside of the hotel is really magnificent. A pearl in the area. Inside it's even better. Just look at the restaurant; only looking at all the flowers and plants that are in there shows the passion of the personal to me.

This hotel is absolutely stunning! There are still books everywhere, which made me very happy, and I love that each room is themed after an author or influential person. It's so nice to see an old building kept, and enough updated touches added to make it a luxurious stay. There is so much art and knick knacks scattered about you could explore for hours. Breakfast is also an experience, being laid out on a large counter top decorated with plants and ornaments, and a wide range of interesting food to try, as well as the standard breakfast items. Air con keeps the room comfortable, and the handmade basin in the bathroom is a really lovely touch. Although it is now a hotel, there is still some feel of a library to it, which makes it a home away from home for me. I'd would love to stay again, and soon.

Beautifully designed hotel, we had a Superior room which was compact in size but with excellent, new bathroom. The staff are very attentive and approachable. Every room is unique and inspired by a historical figure, we indicated a room preference when making the booking but were given another room, it didnβt seem they had noted the request and couldnβt change it when we asked as the hotel was fully booked. We were very satisfied nonetheless and wouldnβt think twice to come back here.
