The DoubleTree by Hilton is conveniently located near Prince Regent and Pontoon Dock DLR stations, as well as London City Airport. Situated right next to the London Excel and overlooking the Gallions Point Marina, it offers an ideal setting for both leisure and business visitors. My family and I visited for a Christmas get-together meal, and our experience was excellent from the start. The entrance is welcoming, with cheerful and attentive staff ready to assist. Opposite the reception is a mini-store stocked with essential goods, though prices are on the higher side. There are inviting breakout areas for guests who wish to work or have a quiet chat, set apart from the bar and restaurant. These spaces are conveniently located near the spotless, well-maintained restrooms. The spacious bar offers a wide selection of drinks, although port and sherry options were limited during our visit. Depending on the events at the Excel, the atmosphere remains pleasantly peaceful, making conversation easy. Comfortable and plentiful seating adds to the relaxed ambience. The servers were attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and provided excellent hospitality, with a special mention for Lucas. He took the time to clarify menu choices, which was a thoughtful touch. Guests can choose from both bar and restaurant menus, with prices more reasonable than many other London restaurants. I particularly enjoyed the Cajun wings, and was delighted to find that, in addition to sorbet for guests with dietary restrictions, a delicious passion fruit tart was available. Portion sizes for the main courses were generous and satisfying. Even as crowds from the Excel arrived later, the lively atmosphere enhanced the experience without becoming overwhelming. For sports enthusiasts, there is also a large TV for viewing. Overall, I highly recommend visiting for drinks or a mealβ€”it's a standout choice compared to other venues in the area.

We came here for a one night layover stay and we enjoyed it! Rooms were nice, service was friendly and upgraded our rooms, and the location was very convenient for the airport. We were worried the proximity to the airport would be bothersome, but the windows are very well soundproofed. We also ate breakfast and dinner on property and enjoyed both. The location isn’t ideal if you’re visiting central London, but if you’re in the area then I’d definitely recommend.

I had a wonderful stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton London Excel and couldn’t be happier with the experience. From start to finish, the service was excellent, and a special mention has to go to Irene, who truly made our stay memorable. Irene provided outstanding service during the two days we stayed, helping us manage our reservation smoothly and going above and beyond by upgrading us to an amazing room with a fantastic view. Her professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail made a real difference and made us feel genuinely welcomed and valued as guests. Everything about the stay was comfortable and enjoyable, and thanks to Irene’s help, it was even more special. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and hope to come back again soon. Highly recommended!

I stayed here last night, and it was a mixed experience. The hotel is certainly modern and well-presented, but more thought had gone into the aesthetics than into practical conveniences. Check-in was quite slow due to the number of guests, taking about 10 minutes. Also, the online check-in option was pointless since you still needed a physical key card from reception to use the lift. Room and Facilities: The room was spacious and pleasant, but there were some odd design choices. For example, the tea and coffee-making area was tucked into a dark nook near the wardrobe with no lighting, which felt like a bit of a hazard. The pillows were also too soft for comfort, which I find is often the case with Hilton hotels. Additionally, the bathroom sink was positioned so close to the wall and soap dispensers that it was awkward to use, especially when shaving. Overall Impression: In summary, the hotel looks nice and the price was reasonable, but the staff were not particularly friendly. I’d describe it as functional rather than exceptional. Ideal for the Excel centre, although not that straightforward to travel to when arriving by train at Kings Cross. The nearest DLR station is the Prince Regent stop.

Really great hotel. I drove here and the car park was easy, had plenty of spaces and is a reasonable fee (Β£15 for 24 hours). I was early but they checked me in anyway since the room was available which was very convenient. The room was spacious, well equipped, and a good temperatures (with usable temp control too). In their evening my TV wouldn't turn on which I reported to reception and a chap came up 10 minutes ago later, worked out the remote was broken, and fetched a replacement. Very quick and very polite. There was a mini fridge in my room which was handy as I had some protein shakes with me. I also appreciated proper hangers and an iron and board for doing my shirts. The bed was big and very comfortable so I had a great sleep. The bathroom was clean, well stocked with towels and tissue, and the shower was massive, with fast hot water. Staff are all very polite, friendly, and seem happy to help. A really great stay and I'll be back next time I am visiting this side of the city.

Stayed for one night and have no complaints. Room was clean and largely as expected of a Double Tree, although we found it quite dark, even on a bright day. The staff were largely pleasant, check in were professional, but there was no genuine warmth or friendly welcoming. Informed us breakfast was 0700-0900 hrs, which l thought was odd, being a weekend, but did not check or clarify. Having a late night, we opted not to rush for breakfast, only to discover on checking out, at 1100 hours, that breakfast was just finishing. The bar area was lovely, lots of different options for seating, comfortable and welcoming. The staff were really nice and we were pleasantly surprised to find it still open when returning late at night. Lovely finish to the evening. I know it's not the hotel's fault, but, you do take your life into your hands walking to the DLR, although once there, was easy enough to get into town.

I was meeting a friend for an early morning catch up at a time when the more usual places weren't open. They allowed a walk-in for coffee (we had to pay on entry for it) and then decided to have breakfast, which we paid for as we left. The breakfast offerings were good, well made and plenty of options were available. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. I wouldn't say it was the best value for money but it's a handy location for a meeting if you need somewhere within walking distance of City Airport.

We stayed here for the ABBA Arena, as it was an easy taxi ride there and a much better area to stay in. The DLR station into the centre of London is a 4 minute walk from the hotel. The room was comfortable and clean, the breakfast was very good and the staff were all friendly. We found the price to be very reasonable and we even got a room upgrade on arrival!

I would definitely recommend this hotel! Started off by being really well greeted on our arrival with complimentary drinks and cookies which was a nice touch! The rooms were a great size and spotless everywhere and came with bottles of water and everything we needed for a nice stay. Breakfast was a bit overpriced for what we got. A good selection but not the best cooked breakfast. The staff were faultless though and accommodated to our every need. Would definitely recommend

Very nice hotel, friendly staff, good views, good transport links etc. Unfortunately the breakfast experience wasn’t quite as good. We stayed two nights and on both mornings the hot food was cold. At nearly Β£18 per person per day I would suggest going elsewhere for breakfast. I would definitely stay here again but not have the breakfast.
